GCH Entrance Requirements

A bit confused. I am familiar with the main entrance, entrance from Downtown, and from DCA. What's the gate everyone is talking about? A door on the sidewalk to the main entrance?

There is a gate now, on the sidewalk, about where the guard is for cars entering Grand Californian Hotel grounds. The gate is locked and there is usually a cast member guard there.

In other threads people have said that non-hotel guests have been able to use the GC entrance to DCA at mix-in time for the OBB. Can anyone confirm this? I am attending this Sunday and trying to plan. I really don't want to try to enter, be turned away, and lose time. Lol

Here's the thing, if too many people start using this gate, and it backs up, they will limit it to hotel guests. So what was allowed last week can change by the time you visit.

Yeah, but that isn't the question that was asked that I responded to. They asked currently. They didn't ask me about what hypothetical future rules might be.

It is the same as the DCA entrance from the GCH. "Officially" it is only available to Hotel Guests of the GCH but in reality it is only enforced at select times if at all thus available to everyone at those times. Same thing for the front gate to GCH...reserved for Hotel Guests only but in reality there is not a need to staff it 24/7 and prevent others form entering based on actual security capacity and demand at any given time.

It is indeed very well possible that while GCH was experiencing limited capacity after opening post shutdown they actively allowed other Resort guests to enter, but there is no indication that there is permenant policy change to the access to the GCH from the street. A few exceptions do not make a rule.

Others should continue to post their experience so like the DCA gate we can as community can get a sense of the pattern if there is one, but open open at one time for one user does not mean always open at all times.
