GCA $259, DL Hotel $169, Paradise Pier $159, 8/24-12/18 2008

I am so sad. I called and it was confirmed that I am not on the list. :( They checked both my old and new addresses. This is a new one I hadn't heard before: She looked at my "info" and said that they sent out the offer to people who usually travel to DLR that time of year. We always have gone in the Spring. Firstly, way to go Disney for discouraging me from adding another trip to my annual itinerary. Secondly, it's kind of freaky that they keep track of that level of detail but of course it's really no surprise.

I am sooooo bummed.

Well that really is not cool. Where are the rewards for being an AP holder? :confused3

No doubt! Especially because I was buying the AP to get the hotel discount, primarily...not sure if it is worth it now just for dining discounts?

How did they check for your name? When I called she said she didn't have any way to check :( But she did say that you have to show your email or bring in the card when you check in. What a bummer

Well I just called and they can look it up by last name. No pin for us. Unless by some miracle there are ap rates looks like it is the BWPPI for our tenth anniversary. Oh well, at least we will be at DL!!

This whole situation has really pi$$ed me off. I am going to fire off an email to DL and let them know why I will not be renewing my AP (since the main reason I got it in the first place was for the hotel discounts).

What number did you use to call?

I did the live chat on the disneyland website and the person didn't know what I was talking about.....but this is what she said about the AP7 rate...
"You would need to login to the AP site and I believe more information on that will be available in a couple of weeks but at this time I do not know."

That's because the live chat on the website is Walt Disney Travel Company and the rate or AP rates are through the DLR hotels directly. You would have to phone the main reservation line at DLR to talk to someone about that...

You should not have purchased the AP solely for the hotel discounts since they are not guranteed.
However i do still think they will offer AP's a discount but sometime in august...

I haven't purchased it yet. I reserved it and a room at the GCH. When the AP rates came out I planned to call and see if I could get the AP7 rate. If that had all gone according to the plan I would have purchased the AP when I got there, and it would have been a great deal. A lot of people get the AP for the hotel discount..it's one of its major perks:confused3

Why not? If the rates are advertised and I had the opportunity to get the deep discounts with an AP, I'd buy one just for the discount if it saved me money overall. I believe that's the point amy is making. No discount no AP purchase.

Well i just called the Reservation line again and they said they couldn't look it up again....oh well...what a bummer :(

^^^ I'm going to try when I get home. In the past I have tried to make ressies with the AP4-6 rates and half the time the CM couldn't do it so I'd call back until I found someone that was able to do it. Not saying anything negative about the CMs, I just believe that not all of the are up on the current events.

It seemed like she looked up my last name and zipcode in the computer. Like SANDIEGOFAN says above and like I've thought and said many times it just seems to depend on who you talk to.

On another board there is one poster who called yesterday without a PIN and just asked for the "Fallidays" special and got it. His theory is that you have to have actually say the name of the promotion. I think maybe I'll give that a try today or tomorrow. And again the results may very well depend on who I speak to. I'm not getting my hopes up. Interestingly, I got the AP6 rate last spring without using the term - I'm sure of it. I just asked for the really good AP rates available.

I'm kind of doubting that there will be Fall AP rates coming out unless they really need an additional sale boost. They will probably wait and see what this promotion does first to determine whether an additional one is needed. Plus the minute better AP rates come out imagine the diluge of calls they would receive from AP holders and would be holders trying to get their reservations switched.

I don't happen to believe that they feel much sense of obligation to offer discounts to AP holders beyond the 10%. I think they make a lot more money off of the hotel rates than they do the extra money spent on purchasing AP's.

ok just becosue you didnt get the pin dosnet mean no good rate. the ap7 rate if there is one should be out soon. if not you still get 10% off from having a ap.

I never received a mailer or an email. I just called Disney (714) 520-5045 and I asked if I had a discount Pin in my name. The female CM at first told me that I needed to have the Pin in hand to get the discount, and said that there was no way to look it up by name. I kept insisting there was a way, so she finally asked another CM. She came back really apologetic and said that she had no idea that they could search by name. She asked for my name and zip, and there was a Pin in my husband's name. We reserved a package through the WDTC for our December 2007 trip; we stayed at BWPPI. We do not have an annual pass and have not filled out any surveys. I have been registered on the Disney site for over a year, and we have a Disney Visa. We also ordered a DVD prior to our trip. I'd have to agree that the DVD or purchasing a WDTC package might be the reason for the Pin distribution. Chase Visa does have deals, but they usually offer them through their own website or by mail. So, even if you don't get anything in the mail, try calling directly and be a PITA if need be!

Well 3rd times the charm........I talked to a cm and sure enough we aren't on the list. She told me to go online and register or sign in if we haven't for a while. I asked if they were all mailed out and she said people are still getting them......so there is hope. She also said that the AP rate should be out soon :) I will just keep my fingers crossed :)

Thanks for the report! I'll choose to believe this particular CM since it's convenient. ;) This is such a rollercoaster! But having worked for a large organization in the past I really shouldn't be surprised to see something unfold like this.

Here's hoping for even better AP rates!
