Are there any major differences between a GC studio villa and a standard room at the DLH or GC,other than a bar sink, microwave and deck? TIA

The major difference is a studio has 1 queen bed and 1 double sofabed. A standard room would have 2 queens or 1 king, some also have daybeds. I was just at DLH with 2 friends and our room had 2 queens and a daybed. The daybed converted to a twin bed, which I used and it was comfortable.

You get a toaster and a microwave :)

Oooh...a toaster. Our last trip I brought one from Canada.I need a toasted bagel in the morning. Keeps me full for hours :upsidedow
Does the floor space compare with a standard? We will be visiting when the hours are short so we will be spending a fair amount of time in the room.We are only three so the Q/SB works for us. DD has slept on the one at the DLH and said it was pretty comfy. Only Disneyland can make a sofa bed that is comfy:cool1:
I like the idea of being able to BBQ a meal or two.I get sick of eating out all the time.Has anyone used the grills at GC?

Thanks for the links. :flower3:I have read those threads and got a lot of good info.
However, what I really want to know is would you choose the studio villa over a standard room for any reason other than the microwave, toaster etc. What makes the GCV(studio) so special, other than exclusivity.:wizard:

For the most part they are roomier than the standard rooms. The balcony's are also nicer. And if you are lucky and get a villa overlooking DCA you can see the World of Color from your villa!

Also, no daily mousekeeping. Trash and towel service is on day 4 and full cleaning on day 8.

No daily Mousekeeping? Nuts to that! Having my made bed and clean towels is half the fun at staying at hotel for me :)

Villa gust got a whole less desirable in my book!

You might want to clarify that limited mousekeeping is only for reservations made with DVC points. :)

If you book a VGC studio through Disneyland reservations paying cash, you will get daily mousekeeping as you normally would. Limited mousekeeping is only for reservations made using DVC points, or if a member paid cash through DVC member services. :goodvibes

Sorry, I assumed on points (rented or otherwise) since I have heard of very minimal success for renting directly from Disney. It is a sold out DVC with only 48 units...

It really depends on your family/group. A studio has a queen bed and a double sofabed. Ideal for a couple, not so good for 3 or 4 unrelated adults.

I have read that there is no daily parking fee at the self park lot if staying in the villas (on a points reservation) compared to a $15 a day fee for the hotel. Someone would have to confirm this is true, but that would be an advantage of staying in the Villas.

Also, as someone pointed out, the Villas are more likely to have a better view, particularly if you are just paying for a standard view at the hotel.

I would stay any day of the week in a studio, just much nicer imho.

This is true, no parking fees when staying in the villas on points. There are no taxes or ATID assessment either :thumbsup2

Thanks Nonsuch! That is a question I needed an answer to. I will be renting points and I was wondering if taxes would be charged on top of that. But what is ATID:confused:

Thanks everyone. Keeping my fingers crossed that this works out for us as we are renting points. :thumbsup2

Turns out OP is trying to rent points... so you were correct. My bad. Since there was no mention of DVC/points in the OP, I figured it was a cash ressie.
