All I can suggest is keep checking the website. We started planning our trip last summer for the first week of December. The GC was over $1100 for 3 nights which was way too much to spend for a place to basically sleep. I ended up booking a room across the street on Harbor for $500 for a suite. I checked the Disney website on different days and times, several times a week. In Sept., PPH was $600 so we booked that to be onsite and cancelled the reservation on Harbor. We heard so many fabulous things about GC at Christmas, so I kept checking the website. One day in October, I checked the website and found GC for $750. I booked it online and then cancelled PPH. I continued to check the website to see if it would go any lower and never saw it below $880 ever again. We were there at a "quieter" time. I would suggest having a back up plan and keep checking the webite on different days and times. Thanksgiving and Christmas are VERY crowded so I don't know what the chances are of finding a low rate.
