i hate you. okay i don't, i say that to everybody.
BUT HOW CAN YOU PAIR THOSE TOGETHER?!
SP is my favorite band, but the beatles are like.. legendary. so it's impossible to choose.
but because i'm loyal.
i say.
SP.
Ummm...this is how.
First I had a nomination thread. This is where people were supposed to nominate whatever bands they wanted to see in this thing. For the most part, whoever's band name popped up in this thread, showed up got put in the tournament. This is why U2 somehow isn't in the tournament, because nobody nominated them. You can even check out that thread here.

Then I went through all the bands, and figured out a way to place them in terms of greatness, based on what they have accompleshed as a band. I based it off of a formula. Number of Albums + Points accumulated from U.S. album sales / number of years as a band. Because of this formula, some bands placed higher than others, that you wouldn't have guessed. For example. Creed placed higher than Van Halen, because although Van Halen is argueably a bigger name, Creed did better while they were around. I mean, in their ten or so years as a band, every album I could find went multi-platinum, while with Van Halen and their 30 something years, that wasn't the case. You can check out that thread here.

Then I finally seeded the bands based off of how high their score was. The Beatles got the highest score, hence they got the #1 seed, while Simple Plan got the lowest, hence they got the #50 seed. When I paired them up, I did it in the same way that any playoff system works. The highest seed against the lowest, second highest against the second lowest, and so on. That would mean that The Beatles are going up against Simple Plan. You can check out the seeding & match-up thread here.

Honestly people are acting like I just pulled these names and match-ups out of the sky or something.
