When you go to DisneyWorld and you see 2 men holding hands it catches your attention right away, for people who have problems with gays in general and there are alot of folks out there that do, you begin to notice alot more then you would. It does catch folks off guard when you're not use to seeing something like that.
I agree with Christopher Robin 26 when he said "We totally agree that you will sometimes find that heterosexuals will be inappropriate in public but this weekend was totally over the top ..There was zero regard for children and other people." B U T... at the same time I have notices alot of that kinda garbage going on with young married couples and hetros at the same time and that is just as bad, but you never hear anyone saying how bad that is or starting a thread on that kinda thing going on, it's always about gays doing it... I wonder why that is???
It does work both ways, both are "over the top". Seeing some guy with a t-shirt on that has an ad about condoms or anything sexual shouldn't be allowed in any park at Disney but those kinda things are not just being done by gays, it's just alot more folks have noticed because they are seeing 2 men holding hands which draws attention or they are wearing a red shirt and you know what that means... When I'm on vacation, I don't notice anything people are wearing UNLESS it is over the top and it catches my attention or they have done something that has my attention. Once that happens, I tend notice alot more then normal.
Plus on top of it all, who wants to be on this magical vacation with the wife and kids and then have to expalin to the children why 2 men are holding hands and what that t-shirt mean or why were those 2 men kissing. I know when I'm on vacation, I don't want to see a 350 women wearing a pair of very tight and very short shorts and a bathing suit top which I saw at the Liberty Tree Tavern at dinner 2 weeks ago, and I don't want to see a young couple making out so hard I thought I'd need to smoke afterwards and I don't smoke which happened 2 weeks ago and I don't want to explain to a 5 year old what a t-shirt means which I overheard some parents having to explain to a 5-6 year old and that time the t-shirt was on a teenage couple and the shirt was on the young lady who's parents were sitting right by the both of them. The t-shirt was about female products just like on TV during the dinner hour.
Pete has posted a great message about his feelings but as he has put it, it's not all gau people just a few, just like it's not all hetro, just a few and it's not all the regilious people just a few, but in todays world and with the way things are right now in the United States when gays do it for some reason it stands out more. If that wasn't true there would be alot more threads of hetros acting like dogs in heat as well..
DisneyWorld is a place of magic and should NEVER be a place to make any kind of statement ... gay, straight, regilious... it is out of place and over the top. It takes away so much more then just the magic. It adds fear and worry to parents that want to take there kids but have no idea what group will be there and going what. People need to remember where they are and never forget it.
Now I could be wrong but......
