GayDayS at Cedar Point

All Mike wants is an order of Cedar Point fries! Good God can I get some food porn?

I will do my bestest to snag a photo. However, they may not be our fries. We have reputations to upkeep. Eating fries in public, walking around, would go against that.:3dglasses

It's not like they want you to go for one of the Emu legs!

UPDATE: The National Socialist Movement tells NBC24 they no longer plan to hold a demonstration in Sandusky.

A Neo-Nazi group plans a weekend demonstration around Northwest Ohio.

NBC24 wrestled with bringing you this story, not wanting to fan the flames.

We do want you know the event is planned in Sandusky.

The Nazi group is targeting an unofficial gay pride day at Cedar Point.

So for families planning a Father's Day outing at the park we want to make sure you will be safe.

We do not have to remind you what can happen when two sides clash over a racially-charged demonstration.

But Cedar Point assures us that will not be the case this weekend.

Local law enforcement gave the park a heads up about the demonstration.

"We learned there may be a demonstration in Sandusky but it will not be at Cedar Point," said Robin Innes, Director of Communications for Cedar Point.

Cedar Point says they have the right to turn away anyone acting inappropriately and that swastikas and threatening print are against the dress code.

"Cedar Point is private property, privately owned," said Innes. "We do not allow any type of demonstrations to be held at the park on any day."

The Anti-Defamation League website says the Neo-Nazi event is planned in protest of a gay pride day at the park.

NBC24 found references to the date on several websites.

But Cedar Point says that is not park-sponsored either.

"Cedar point does not promote, we don't host, we don't sponsor any tope of official or unofficial gay day at the park," said Innes.

It appears Sunday will draw a big crowd in support of gay pride and may draw another crowd protesting.

But Cedar Point says it will be just another day at the park.

"We want people to come out, have fun and it's our job to make sure that they do have fun and we're going to do everything we can to make sure that happens," said Innes.

NBC24 attempted to contact Sandusky law enforcement along with the National Socialist Movement, the Neo-Nazi group that appears to have planned Sunday's demonstration, but as of air-time Wednesday night, we had not heard back from either.

That is good news.

I am just slightly worried about the myriad of us that will be driving home, after a long day out in the hot sun. Stopping for food/rest/gas along I-80/90. The plazas on the toll road are isolated. The group is out of Metro Detroit and I know a bunch of us are as well. Therefore driving on the same route.

I'm hoping for safety in numbers. Maybe I'll start a convoy.:scratchin

Do you take the Turnpike? I've found those rest areas to be rather well lit and protected.....

But if you really need to, but one of those rainbow light sabers on the way out of the park, that should work!

Well lit yes. Protected not so much. Many a trip have I stopped to tinkle while my passengers slept only to find some creepy/scary/thuggy dude wandering around the parking lot. That and vans full of Mennonites.

I will be sure to pack the light saber I made at DTD last month for added protection!

I'd say to still be careful. They don't look like a group who should be taken at their word.

Morning all. Cedar Point was fun yesterday. No big news to report back, thank goodness. Well except that I am a little sunburned. Ended up that I was out voted by my traveling party. Tiara or yarmulke, not both. So I went with the yarmulke. The only notable occurrence was that a group of young gentlemen, appearing to be of Arabian descent, asked to have a photo with me, because they have never seen a gay jew. Go figure.:happytv:

On a side note, the park really has nothing too exciting from last year. The doghouse drier that Mike posted about was being used...even though it was around 80°. Its hot and you're sweating...why would you get into something that will make you hotter? Still makes no sense. Maybe for the fall...

The lit trail thing was better than I expected though. It ran along all of Frontier Trail and spanned the four seasons. There was a themed stationary float in the middle of each season. The lights kind reminded me of a stationary Spectromagic, with less thrilling music. They were selling 3D glasses, but we couldn't figure out what for.:confused3:confused3

Dragster petered out each time we got up to the ride platform. After the third time, we said forget it. We'll ride next time.

Would it be in bad taste to wear my rainbow yarmulke in combination with my tiara?

I don't know if my hair will be green this year. Maybe hot pink or maybe au natural.

I'm sorry the tiara lost to the yarmukle.

mmmmmmmmmmm Cedar Point fries... always at the spot across from where Oceania used to be.

And if you are a fan that knows the history... they are about to teardown and replace the original building of Breakers Hotel. Which to me is sad. The fun of Cedar Point growing up was staying in the zillion year old hotel that creaks and groans and was full of ghosts. The last of the rooms that are original to when the hotel was built or (rebuilt depending) are in the hall right above the long hall from the parking lot to reception. The way I heard it is that this fall it is all coming down and they are putting up a modern building? Did anyone make it over there?

I was stuck at Magic Kingdom for gay days this year... not as good as cedar point, but close.

Where have you read this? Does this include the front desk and rotunda area? Hmmm I scour the CP websites and have read nothing of this.
