Gay Days Disneyland Anaheim - Surprised to see some proactive Disney involvement !

I was curious to see when Disneyland (Anaheim) Gay Days was going to be held in early October.

I looked up the website, and was suprised to see that their Gay Days had a INFO CENTER right in the Disneyland Grand Californian Hotel, a meeting room that probably was rented by the organizers.

I was also surprised Disney offering CONVENTION special pricing to tickets to the event, from 1 day to 6 day tickets, with a nice discount. (The link was from the Gay Days Anaheim website to the Disney Convention Ticket area, and the first page actually said GAY DAYS CONVENTION on the side, I am not sure if this link was made by Disney or the Organizers). Either way it brought you next into the DISNEY Website for Convention Ticket Prices.

And then there was a special code to book rooms for Gay Day Events at the three Disneyland Hotels, with quite a substantial discount. Like 235 dollars a night at the Grand Californian, but all the rooms are all gone at the special rate now. You could call Disney and say GAY DAYS RATES or mention the code.

I am amazed how proactive Disneyland is with the event, even though still unofficially sponsoring it.

Does Disneyworld ever offer ticket or room rate specials, even if organized by a second party, for Gay Days Disneyworld (Orlando) ?

I was impressed that Disneyland seemed to want to openly market themselves to the Gay Days there in October, even if it were not an offical Disney event.

I've attended in 05 and 07 and from what I've learned of the event from those past few years is that everything you've described has always been in place. But if you're comparing it to Orlando:

The INFO center is indeed right there in one of the Disneyland hotel towers but its not even a 1/4 of the size of what you find at Royal Plaza---more like going to a PTA bake sale. I think the only reason its not at a Disney hotel in Orlando is because of the attached pool parties that I sincerely DOUBT you'd ever find going on at say the GF...LOL...although wouldn't that be quite the sight

The special pricing is just a basic convention rate and you can indeed find it in Orlando as well---I almost used it last year for POFQ.

Make no mistake Disney will gladly welcome most any large group that has money to spend (probably not a neo-nazi faction). Maybe someday we'll be in a place where they can put up a billboard advertising the event with Mickey in his rainbow Epcot uniform arm and arm with two underwear models...but alas not right now

How about the Beach Club and Yacht Club, (I am thinking Storm Along Bay before and after Gay Day).

The Gay Bears would like Wilderness Lodge more?

I actually stayed at the Beach Club for Gay Days a couple years ago, and I think I saw one or two couples riding the Disney Buses/Boats with red shirts back and forth to the Boardwalk Resorts. Yet when your in the Park there is a sea of red shirts. Where are most of those Red Shirted people staying?

Disneyworld could still say it is an UNOFFICIAL event, just like Anaheim Disneyland does and yet grant us Convention Ticket Pricing? Maybe that would backfire, as Everyone would be "Gay for a Day" to get those discounts.

I've found ticket discounts on both the main gaydays site and the OMW website. I don't know if they get actual convention pricing tickets or if they just buy a block of tickets for a discount like any other brokers.

OMW has used Disney hotels for "overflow" guests---I've seen them use Saratoga and maybe Pop(?) (didn't need them this year though) and the bear website used PO and AS-Sports last year and FQ this year at a "convention" discount. But the main hotels for OMW and the main GD website use the Palace and the Plaza because of the pool parties and also since they're open exclusively for GD attendees that particular weekend thats where a lot of people stay at. As for the rest who don't want to be in the middle of the storm everybody scatters out to either their favorite place or to their budget point.

It sounds like you're talking more like a volume discount?

On the Anaheim Gay Days Website, they had a discounted Disney Tickets Link, that if you kept following it, went to a Disney Website for Convention Tickets, with some after hours tickets, but then they also had 1,2,3,4,5 and I think 6 Full Day Hopper Tickets for Disneyland.

The Oranizers also had a Disneyland Code for Hotels onsite at Disneyland, that was for the Gay Days Schedule around Anaheim, but they are sold out now. The Organizers website said to call Disney or mention Gay Days, which kind of suprised me?! Would a Disneyland Reserveration person understand the term "Gay Days" officially?

Maybe this is how Disneyland does a volume discount, at Convention Rates?

I was impressed the organizers had made an "arrangement" with Disneyland for an unoffical event as far as Disneyland is concerned.

To give Disneyworld credit, they did invite the Gay Men's Chorus of New Hampshire to sing at EPCOT on Gay Days, a few years ago. It was like an unofficial welcome for Gay Days!

Would a Disneyland Reserveration person understand the term "Gay Days" officially?

well just because they don't officially endorse it doesn't mean everybody working the resorts doesn't know what GD is---especially since both events have been around for quite a while.
