Gay Days and Columbus Day?

I was the one who posted it was madness last year at this time. I don't know anything about summer crowds as I've only ever been the first week or two of June. But.... I will say that was the absolute busiest we've ever seen it. And the heat didn't help. The two combined really wore us out. Plus we overdid it our very first night there and were beyond exhausted the rest of the trip.

We were booked for 4 nights but ended up staying an extra night as many in our party were staying one more night since we didn't get to see/do lots of things.

Hopefully there wont' be a heat wave this same time this year. And we will slow it down and really enjoy the park instead of running from ride to ride. :lovestruc

I have been there for New Year's Eve, and that was horrible. So crowded, you couldn't even push a stroller 1 foot without hitting someone. And yes, I am one of "those" stroller pushers IF you cut me off, if you step over my stroller's front tires, and especially if you do that and then stop dead right in front of me. But, I digress. It was very crowded, so, from what I gathered from Stubby, October is nothing.

What was the temperature during the heat wave?

Clothes would be sufficient! :thumbsup2

:lmao:

Oh good, because my Spanish conquistador outfit is at the dry cleaners.;)

We were there for Christmas so I figure this will be a breeze compared to that! (Don't get me started on people cutting off strollers, or wheelchairs for that matter, and then just stopping, or changing direction, or slowing way down. I saw a ton of it and it happened to us several times. Why would people put themselves in harms way like that???)

Anyway, I am really hoping we make it during this time. We want to go the 3rd through the 8th (my oldest turns 19 on the 4th), but we'll see what happens.

I think October will be a walk in the park (no pun intended) compared to Christmas/NYE.

Well over 100 degrees. I think I heard it may have been 105 even! That's hot for Anaheim! Made it even harder to stand in line.

Aww, c'mon, you live in Tucson! Aren't you used to 105 degrees yet? Is it still a dry heat in Anaheim?

Because I can't stop chuckling to myself after reading this:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Too funny!

Occasionally, when the moon is in alignment with whatever planet it needs to be aligned with, I manage to come up with a pithy comment. Thank you for laughing.

We were there last Oct 11-14 and it wasn't bad at all. The crowds did pick up as the weekend approached, though. And, yes, it was a bit warm but not nearly as bad as WDW in the summer!! The mornings on all days were quite light and crowds picked up each day around noon or so, then dropped off again after dinner.

There were quite a few folks from AZ (as are we, though without kids now), but I think it was before the Utah school break. Not all AZ schools are off at the same time so it's not as bad as it could be. Nowhere near as bad as summer or Christmas/NY week. :yay:

We were there for Columbus Day in 2010, and Gay Days in 2011. Columbus Day was busier. That being said, it was nothing like summer crowds.

I remember walking by the front desk at the Grand Californian at the beginning of Columbus Day weekend and overhearing a conversation where a woman wanted another room (not sure if she was switching :confused3), and the front desk clerk replied that every single room in the resort was booked through Tuesday. The crowds in the park seemed weekend-busy, but the lines weren't bad if you used your FP's wisely, etc. Only time I had to wait more than a half hour was for my cocktail at Electronica since that was opening weekend! ;)

Gay Days 2011 was distinctly less crowded.

Thanks for all the head's up about Gay Days and Columbus Day. We got our itinerary back today, and we got our requested dates of Oct 6-11.
