Gaumont Cinema at Disney Village

Hi,

I was just wondering if anybody knows how often they tend to show films in English at the Gaumont Cinema at Disney Village? The Gaumont/Pathé website appears to have a little hearing impaired logo on many of the films, but it leaves a lot to be desired as it's impossible to tell whether it means English or French subtitles!

So, do they tend to show dubbed French versions with English subtitles, or the original English version with French subtitles, or even just ones with no subtitles?!

I think on a Monday night there is a Film Premiere in English with french subtitles, otherwise I believe the films are all in French.

I'm always amazed that a cinema in Disney Village doesn't show any Disney films - no matter what the language!?!?!

Yes I think its completely daft. They apparently want to attract only the locals rather than actually serving the clients of Disney. Bizzare.

Yeah! It would make so much more sense for them to show Disney films; I don't know why they don't! The mind boggles. I think they were showing Cats & Dogs (or Les Chats et les Chiens) once when we went, but I'm not even sure if that's a Disney film, lol!

Lets face it, if you wanted to see any of the films they show currently then you would see them at home. I would much rather pay money to see Disney Classics on the big screen as they were originally meant to be seen! DVD's & Videos are ok but lack the impact of watching on Cinema screens. If anyone has seen Beauty & The Beast on IMAX they will know what I mean!!!

Me too. You would have thought they would have something of a captive audience. Often you want somewhere quiet to sit and watch something after plodding round the park all day. A nice big screening of Snow White or Dumbo or dare I say it, Beauty and the Beast would be great

I would absolutely love to see some of the Disney classics on the big screen. They're definitely missing a trick there!

You were actually expecting some inteligence?
Disney can't do anything because it's not their cinema and gaumont don't want the hassles of foreign people in their cinema.
I know because I asked a few people and explained that I worked on Mondays so couldn't go to see the one and only showing of the film in English.
Basically, if local people want a film in English, go to Paris was what I was told.

I didn't realise that the cinema wasn't a 'Disney' one. Strange that. It surprises me that they are missing out on a deal of custom though. There's a lot of folk would be glad of a quiet sit down in the dark with a Disney film

ITA. Now my DD's are getting older the Disney videos/DVD's don't get watched as much as they used to. Not out of choice, they all get a lot more homework now. When I mentioned this thread at teatime last night, we all agreed that we would love to spend some time on a Disney holiday watching a Disney classic. At the end of the day, you can't get the same experience watching a film at home as you can in a cinema.

Who said anything about a weekend? Watching Jungle Book and Lion King used to be a daily routine for Francesca until she started school!!!

I wasn't talking about the kids, though. It was me who started with video collection and then moved on to dvd.
