Can anyone tell me about this? What time is it open from and until? Are there any downsides to using it? Also can you ask for exit row seats at this point or do you have to check-in on the day as normal to get these?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hello Emma

We used this in August 2002 - I think it's open from 3.00pm(ish) to 8.00pm - it has no drawbacks at all that I can see but was great to be able to get rid of our luggage and then just turn up the next day with no hassle and little wait. I would've thought you could make your seat requests at the time you check in (there would be no point checking in the day before if you had to check in again the next day I guess). Whether or not you might be even more likely to get your seat requests because you did Twilight check in I don't know - but we were upgraded without even requesting it (I didn't realise you could request upgrades then - just call me naive!) to PE & I've always wondered if it was because we were one of the first people to check in!

Go for it - less hassle, less stress the next day and less waiting. No downsides at all in my experience!

Thanks Karen, great info.

Fingers crossed for an upgrade, that would be a perfect way to start a holiday. You mentioned about asking for one, have you ever done this and did it work? What would you say?

Thanks again

Emma

Hi Emma

I think you can ask about free upgrades and they may accomodate you if they have spaces or can't get people to upgrade for money? Hopefully someone may come along and tell you who knows more then me!

I think I have read somewhere that if you have got a special card (like a "Premium" or "Platinum" card or something like that???) because you fly with an airline frequently you have got more chance of being upgraded for nothing. Sorry to be vague!

I think if I were to ask, I would smile sweetly and just say "can I ask you about a possible free upgrade?" or something equally vague!

I have to say it was an absolutely wonderful start to our holiday when it happened (especially since I had no idea people ever got upgraded!) although when they called our names over the tannoy at the gate (to tell us we'd been upgraded) I was in a huge panic thinking they were going to tell us something awful like had no room for us on the plane or something!! My excuse is that I'd never flown as an adult before and was very nervous!

I hope you have a smashing time upgrade or not! Hopefully someone a bit more in the know may be able to help with your questions.

Hiya

I may be able to get some 'inside info' on saturday evening as we are having a party at our house & have invited several friends over for a meal & fireworks & one of them works on the Gatwick Virgin check-in desk & often covers the twilight checkin.
She very kindly managed to pull a few strings and got 5 of us upgraded this year - which was handy! :D

Perhaps she'll share a few tricks of the trade after a few glasses of wine - I'll let you know.

Regards
Peter
