Whilst my wife & daughter go shopping for a morning I want to take my son (aged 15) & nephew (aged 17) to either Gatorland or Boggy Creek Airboat ride. Which is best? Also, I see the Boggy Creek Airboat ride has 2 locations, is there any difference between locations?

Thanks for any help.

Not sure of a difference between the two Boggy Creek locations but we went to the one in Boggy Creek Road and had a fantastic time - the kids loved it and we'd definitely go again.

Haven't done Gatorland tho I have heard mixed reports and it's not on my list of must-dos.

Astrid :)

Boggy creeks::yes::

Been twice, and have it on the schedule for our next trip.Well worth the money.you see lots of wildlife and if feels great to have the wind whistling through your hair as you speed along.

Gatorland has mixed reviews, but Ive heard its very old and tatty, we drove past it once, which was enough to put us off!!!!.

Boggy Creek airboats down near the Fish Camp off Boggy Creek Road are definitely worth a visit - but pick your day and time of visit carefully. On our first visit we went on the first trip of the day on a weekday and saw loads of wildlife and some gators really up close! On our second visit we went mid-morning on a Sunday - there were loads of fishermen in their boats out on the Lake. They seemed to have frightened off all the wildlife - we only saw one single baby gator - and the guide had to really hunt to find that. We were glad it wasn't our first visit.

ps We also have been to Gatorland and enjoyed it! None of the Disney or US polish, but it was quite an experience. The guys who work with those babies are seriously mad!

Boggy Creek! (I prefer to see my wild-life in its natural environment, not in a 'zoo' or caged setting!)

To be honest I don't think you can really compare the two.

We have done both & thoroughy enjoyed both but if you are going with the main aim to see gators then don't bank on Boggy Creek as we went this year & didn't see one. Great fun on the boat but not a single one to be seen.

I agree with Mike that I prefer to see wildlife in its natural surroundings but if you are going to be disappointed if you don't see a gator remember that mother nature may let you down. Whereas gatorland has them by the ton

If you are after some adrenalin pumping then Boggy creek is the one though.

Just my thoughts
Peter

Gators in Gatorland are not caged and they run an extensive and interesting breeding programme.
Gatorland is worth a visit, we find it fun and interesting with some good wildlife walks and the guys who work there are both mad and very funny.
Perhaps only a half day, but I wouldn't write it off!
We are hoping to do Boggy Creek on our next visit.
Am I right in thinking that the centre nearest to the Airport is the best one? (the fish camp?)

Haven't tried the other one, but I'm certain that the one at the Fish camp is their main site - not sure if that means it's better!?;)

An advantage of the Fish Camp site is the restaurant - good food and reasonable prices and you get to see some real characters down there for the fishing. We have had breakfast there twice - a different experience to the Theme Parks.

Gatorland is an excellent half day out, the place has had a bit of a re model in the last few years.

For the money it's a very good alternative to a theme park.

Air boat rides are awesome though, have only been on one in the Everglades but it was a magical windy experience.

Last January we went on the air boat ride that is part of the Gatorland set up and it was FANTASTIC.

The place it happens is on a lake (can't remember the name of it ) some distance from Kissimmee ( about 30mins in the car ).
We went about 45mins before the end of the day's trips and just as we arrived an air boat was coming back from a trip with about 16 people on it. Well the next trip was the last of the day and as there was only myself and DW the "pilot"? took us out on his 4 seater air-boat. It was the difference between a London double decker bus and a sports car. It went like you know what.

Had our own personal trip. He took us where we wanted and showed us what we wanted to see. Stopped at any time we wanted so that he could show us things and explain about them. Everytime I saw a bird I didn't recognise he would tell us what it was. I had never seen a bald eagle close up in the wild. He found us 10 of them including 4 young ones. Lots of Ospreys. Plenty of gators given the time of year.

It was probably the highlight of our holiday - no it WAS the hightlight of the holiday. Can't wait to go again.
Can I suggest a half day a Gatorlland and then one of their air boat trips. They sell a combined ticket.

Regards seeing animals, particularly alligators on the Boggy Creek airboats, I understand that you'll see more if you can get the earliest rides they offer.
