Gatorade G Series

I've seen the full G series at GNC's all over around the DC area for about a month. Haven't tried it. The NYC Triathlon used Cytomax this year and last. IDK, I can drink it, and i'm sure it was better than water, but really it just wasnt my cup of tea. Maybe it was just how it was mixed there, or the specific flavor.

Thanks for the tip on GNC. I went out and bought two containers of the Pro 2. Went with the Pro this time due to the extra carbs and electrolytes. At $35 a container I need the 2 for 1. I buy the powder because it ends up being cheaper.

enjoy,
Duane

I am a powder mixer here, also. Generally not an old formula Gatorade fan but do train all summer with Infinit Product. You can customize the formula - I tend to lower the taste and increase the electrolytes while pushing the carb content. There is an osmolity calculator that you need to stay under.... too high and it will not disolve well or worse not be absobed in the gut well. As the weather cools I will start up with a commercial powder aiming at a race content - that is when I carry a sport drink in the cooler weather.

I like Cytomax and long as the aid station crew does not try to make it at the recommended strength levels. Or like you maybe it is a flavor thing. I really like Red but that is not always a race day flavor.

Yea it was just a little too sweet maybe. Or it could've been that it was 95 degrees and I was just cooking. The my company's tent had fresh squeezed OJ in the VIP area, that hit the spot. haha

I use the Cytomax powder and found it strange that you needed to add 1 1/2 scoops in 16 oz of water:confused3:confused: I use just over 1 scoop in 20 oz of water, works out much better. I make it the night before, and pour it into my 5 oz bottles. They get well mixed while I am running, that is for sure!!

I saw those kits from Gatorade today at WalMart, didn't notice how much they were though.

I am really deviating from the G2....

Any one every ride/run up to a rest/aid station serving pickle juice? It was the nastiest sounding stuff at mile 80 and 99-101F but I was so sick of sweet that I gave it a try. Would not want too much but it knocked that ill feeling down and solved the micro cramping I was having. Not sure if it was the vinegar or what but I do have a couple bottles on hand during the summer.

OK it's not real pickle juice but a product called pickle juice.
http://www.goldenpicklejuice.com/ - it may be a Texas thing but if you ever see it in really hot event give it a try.

I haven't ever tried it myself, but I have heard of pickle juice being the magic cure for muscle cramps. I thought that maybe it was a wives tale thing, but I guess there must be some truth to it as someone thought to bottle and market it.

I found some Gatorade 03 Recover at Dollar General of all places. They wanted $3 of a bottle. I don't need to recover that bad.

Imagine a wel trained athlete on the side of the road eating a generic bag of potato chips and dring a bottle of pickle juice! One way to get rid of cramps!

I've heard of using mustard for cramps too. You know the basic yellow mustard that you get in little packets.

Anyone try this?

Also just purchased 2 more containers of G Pro 2. I'm set for a while.
