Gator Sightings!

DH's cousin was a regular at FW and he said that he also saw a bobcat in one of his travels years ago. Am not sure where he said he spied it, but at the time we thought it was unlikely that he did...guess we were wrong. We leave in 4 days and arrive on Sunday so guess we will try to spy out any creatures around the 800 loop!

Yea, they actually are seen quite a bit in the Central/South Florida areas, just more so in the wilderness areas. Florida has some interesting native species...heh

Okay you guys are now making me want to reconsider. I didn't think about that stuff last year, but now that it is brought to my attention. Wow..

i wouldn't worry about it, just be aware of your surroundings. most critters avoid people.

Yea, they're going to ignore you unless you really go out of your way to annoy them, or happen to take a walk in the woods and jump right on top of one. Chances are you won't do either, so as GatorDad said, I wouldn't worry ;)

Ok I have debated aout repling to this but here it gos. Once when we were down staying in the 700 loop it had to be 2000 or 2001.
We were tent camping behind my parents MH and we heard what sounded like a baby wild cat. My husband not being the camper did not want to say anything but I new he had heard it because of the way he looked at me the next morning but I would never say anthing to him for fear of packing up and leaving. Well we heard this noise for a few night. Then we say security riding her horse thru the loop and she got off her horse and we talked and I mentioned what I had heard and she clarified for me that they had seen some baby Florida Panthers. They had caught the mom and some of the little ones but they must not got them all. She said they were trying to track that one and also some gators. Which we saw 2 that trip. I think security at FW is by far the best I have seen in a campground and I do not think we heard the cat the whole time we were there so they must have caught it. I know peacocks sound alot like a wild cat but I'm pretty sure I know what I heard, since security verified it.

I wish I'd see a Bobcat! I see very little as far as "scary" critters at Disney. I'd mentioned the only two gators I know I've seen have been at the Polynesian and the Beach Club. :)

That would be so cool to see a Florida Panther and not the ones that skate either LOL especially since I am a HABS fan not a Panthers fan. We love to look and go looking for wildlife while at Disney. On our honeymoon in 98 at Coronado we were sitting in teh hot tub and a skunk came walking by and stopped at teh pool for a drink then we had a couple raccoons walk past and a few snakes. that was so cool to see.
