Gator grabs 2 year old at Grand Floridian?

What that have to do with suburban infiltration? I've never said to kill them in the glades -- or when I have, it's been as hyperbole, and I've backed off it often. That's a good example, but I don't see what it's got to do with suburban lakes. Or theme parks.
How are you going to keep them out of the burbs yet still in the "wild"? Not very likely. A much better bet, educate the people and be aware of your surroundings.

Really??
And what makes you believe the water was up to the child's waist?

People need to stop making judgements without knowing what actually occurred.
It's irrelevant where the water came to, but.... A 2 year old in a foot of water..

I so hate seeing people judging these parents so harshly. Seriously, are you all such perfect parents? I posted earlier in this thread that we were at the Poly when this happened and watched the helicopter and search boats with our 2 year old in bed next to us. The next day I kept thinking how lucky we were, and I was more vigilant than usual.

And I still lost my two year old at Hollywood Studios. After a week of vacation with no incident. One of those situations where I thought my husband had her and he thought I had her and we were rushing to get to a show. They next thing I knew I was showing a cast member pictures of what she was wearing because we couldn't find her. Disney CMs found her in minutes and got us into the show already in progress, and she watched Doc McStuffins no worse for the experience. We were lucky. This family was very much not. I refuse to believe that any parent doesn't have these stories if they are telling the truth. I lost my son on a Disney cruise ship when he was 4 too. And I'm kind of a helicopter mom. Wasn't on my phone in either situation. I'm just a mom of multiple kids doing my best. And I apparently have very independent kids who think it's enough that they know where they are.

Any parent who swears they've never had this type of situation is lying or repressing. I may not have made this particular decision of letting my two year old in the water (although the amoeba thing is what was scaring me before this), but I've had my own experiences.

He was NOT in a foot of water. He was IN the water a foot OUT. Big difference.

So probably about where the boy in the picture is or maybe a step further out.

The issue is he was IN the water, and probably being a two year old splashing and kicking the water like a small animal that the alligator would prey on would do.

Well then you've heard something new since the last several briefings.

I'm pretty sure I've stipulated to all those things. None of them are the point, but I've been clear in saying attacks are rare, and I question the actual worth of the abundance of alligators in the food web.

Ok I'll give you one thing buy then it is on you. They bury themselves into the mud creating big holes throughout the everglades. These holes fill with freshwater and stay filled. Other fish and animals then use these holes to breed/lay eggs/live. Without them, many fish and insect populations in the everglades deteriorate. This then deteriorates bird populations. And so the chain goes. Honestly I'm shocked I need to explain the importance of the top of a food chain.

Then they need signs about lightening, snakes, fire ants, dangers of crossing the road, swimming in general, over eating, drinking too much, etc, etc, etc.

Totally the same thing.

Come on. I've shot this down before. 90% of travelers have intimate experience with the things you have posted about. How many have that same knowledge and experience with alligators? You are better than that.

They are important in the parks in urban areas. Other than that, some keep the fish populations and insect populations in relative check. Beyond that, larger gators are taken out. I'm not sure what you are arguing at this point. You make it sound like they run unchecked through elementary school playgrounds. You need to be certified and you can't take under 4 footers because they pose no threat. Other than that, what you want does happen.

Fire ants is actually a pretty good example. Same with snakes and spiders. I actually wouldn't have a problem with them having nature signs that show them all on it.

A dangerous natural habitat is sufficient.

I'd agree there.

If Disney notices that once a night a bolt of lightning strikes right off one of their beaches, and has a team to monitor, then yes let's get a sign out there.

My phone tells me when a lighting strike has been detected within 5 miles.

Anyone have an app for a gator within 5 miles? Didn't think so....

Sorry I didn't read the last 50 pages to find where you successfully derailed the idea of some things being an act of god and completely out of the control of any person or company. People know about fire ants? Do people really know the difference between a lightening storm in the Appalachians and one in florida?

Do you know where to find black widow spiders?

The point is how can anyone guess at all the things that might happen to a person and warn them ----- that's alot of signs. they will have to make a sign that reads like the disclaimer after the new medication adds.

It's pretty easy. For which animal/reptile does Disney have a team of people monitoring.....

Saved you 50 pages....

Sorry yes it was sarcasm... and I didn't read the last 50 pages to know what you were talking about it your response to my post......
I plead ignorance.
