Some friends and I are interested in getting a cabin in Gatlinburg for Spring Break. Does anyone know of any good places to go through? We want a hot tub and pool table if possible. I looked up some places on the internet, but it's hard to tell which ones are actually good.
Also, what are some fun activities to do down there? Is there a lot to do or will we just be mostly hanging out?
Thanks for your help!

I have not been there in years but there is a lot to do. Also, there is a haunted house there that you have to go to-it was the scariest one I have ever been in. If I remember correctly there is also a small amusement park, a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum and other stuff. You should have a good time.

My family usually goes to Gatlinburg at least once a year. We have rented cabins from several companies, but our favorite is www.jacksonmountainhomes.com They have a huge selection of homes and the people there are very friendly. When we were there a couple of years ago, my then 18 month old daughter had a bug bite on her leg get infected. She ultimately had to be hospitalixed. But before that, the Jackson Mtn. workers were wonderful in helping us find a doctor to see her.

My family loves being outside. So when we go we usually spend part of our time hiking. They have some wonderful trails that are easy enough for even my preschoolers to go down (and some great waterfalls too). There is also a Ripley's Aquarium there. We all like going there on rainy days. Pigeon Forge (the next town over) has Dolly Wood; an amusement park centered around Dolly Parton. We also like driving over the mountains to Cherokee North Carolina and looking at their Indian shops. If I can help with anything else, just let me know. Karen

About 5 years ago we rented a brand new cabin in Gatlinburg that was absolutely gorgeous We were actually the first ones to rent it. I believe the restort was called Mountain Shadow Resort. It was not on the main drag, but about 10 minutes up the mountain. Our cabin had 3 floors, and slept about 10 people. It also had a beautiful deck on each floor overlooking the mountains, a hot tub on one of the decks and a whirlpool tub. It didn't have a pool table though. I think 5 years ago we paid $149/night.

OH YEAH!!! I know of a great cabin rental place - in Pigeon Forge - just next to Gatlinburg. The cabins are reasonable and there are all sizes to choose from. They usually end up being cheaper than a hotel!

We've stayed there a couple of times and I've sent several friends there who have ended up sending several of their friends.

We use www.volunteercabinrental.com They actually allow 2 nights, most places require that you stay 3. They are also out of the way, but not to far from Pigeon Forge. You can also go the opposite direction from Pigeon Forge and hit the Smokies without all the traffic.

There are alot of cabins in Gatlinburg, I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a quality cabin. We own cabins on the other side of the mountain, near Cherokee. If you come over our way, don't forget about Harrah's Casino! It's alot of fun! ;)

(sorry, but I like hanging out with my Alpha Chi sisters!!! :p )

I just ordered a vacation guide last week for Gatlinburg. I have received ALOT of info from different places and even some discount coupons. Go to http://www.gatlinburg.com/ On the left side there is a button to click for free vacation guides. Most of the brochures have maps on them so you can see the location compared to downtown Gatlinburg. We spent our homeymoon (or what we had of one) down there and stayed in cabins on the Charokee side. About the only real issue we had was parking in Gatlinburg and from what I've heard it hasn't gotten any better. We are actually planning a trip for 2005 to renew our vows for our 15th anniversary:bride: :groom: We had considered WDW but then decided on Gatlinburg since we haven't had a chance to go back and only spent one day there. We only had 3 days for a honeymoon and we spent 2 of them traveling there and back:(
I want to spend at least 2-3 days down there (not including travel) and renew our vows in a little white chapel we saw. Although that may change since one of the brochures shows a horseback wedding.:scratchin Thinking I might try to talk hubby into that one:teeth:
