We like to stay in Gatlinburg and take the short trip to Pigeon Forge. In Gatlinburg you can walk everywhere on sidewalks etc. Pigeon Forge is very spread out and you can drive and walk etc. Pigeon Forge has many amusement type things like go cart rides etc. There is one park called the Track that has a park just for the little ones. ALso there are a lot of free things in the mountains. Water falls, Cades Cove (Pioneer settlement), the mountain streams and several trails etc. We love GATLINBURG and Pigeon Forge. Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, many types of music shows etc. Of course in the spring and summer months prices do increase as does the amount of traffic. Cherokee is over the mountains to the south and the Harrahs Casino is there. Also there is a town called Townsend where the weekly series Christy was filmed. Unfortunately you cannot go to the location as the owners will not allow it, but it is a little town and there are some caves there called Tuckaleechee, it is a very good walk through.
