:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Wohooooooo --- we work together.. lol

Have you been over Christmas? I heard it's great... chilly buy great! lmao
I love the stampede dinner show and we do the Nascar track... We stayed in cabins last time in Gatlinburg and it was awesome.. her water park was nice too but not in December! LOL :rotfl:

We did Comedy Barn one year and OMG!! my husband got called onto the stage, we were dying laughing!!!

So many great things to do!

I'm gonna jump on board because we hope to go over Christmas too!:thumbsup2

Do you have to pay full admission to DollyWood to see the lights? Also, are the rides open during the holiday season?

Thanks

I have no clue but I'm sure you do ... I'm sure it's an all day admission for the shows and the rides that are open, if they are open! :confused3

When I checked the website, it's open - all by Christmas Eve and Day -- also closes December 30th, I believe that's what I read.

I think I'm also going to check out priceline for hotels, I've been pricing out cabins, which we normally stay in ...and they are pricey, between $159 to $229.00 per night.. that week will add up.

I'm going to see about hotels near the strip too -- having the cabin with seperate rooms is great esp with a kitchen..

Keep me informed if you find anything ;)

Nite!

Having gone there several times I would also like to recomend some free bees like cades cove and the nature parkway drive in the foothills. As others have mentioned weather should be of some concern. The roads may be icy, especially in the mornings. I would also recomend looking into VRBO cabins. I have used them all trips there and they seem to surpass all cabin rental rates and many do not have the added fees. This spring we spent four nights there in a wonderful home for about $95.00 nightly with no added fees. Excellent views and extra's. Two bedrooms, two hot tubs, fully furnished and complete privacy. They even let us bring our labs. The money you save here can be spent on Micky.

Hey there! I thought I'd jump in and help ya! We go up to the area quite a bit. We live 3 hours from there. It's a great place to visit outside of Disney of course.

A neat place to stay is at The Inn at Christmas Place. It's decorated for Christmas all year round. During the Holidays they have Santa and Mrs. Claus. It's pricey but you can always visit for free!

I have stayed at the Wilderness at the Smokies resort. They have regular rooms and some with kitchens and mulit rooms. They can be pricey but do offer discounts and special offers. It has an indoor waterpark attached to it and is only for resort guests. It's included in the room rate.

Dollywood is open from 2pm to 9pm before Christmas. Closed Christmas Eve and day. Is open 11am to 9pm until Dec 30th. Most of the rides are open except the water rides of course. Dixie Stampede does a special Christmas show during that time. As well as some of the other dinner theaters. A new dinner show is the Hatfields and McCoys. Looks hilarious and can't wait to check it out. We LOVE the Comedy Barn and the Smith Family Theater.

Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville all have lights up in the area. In PF it's called Winterfest and you can take a trolley for 5.00 each and not have to drive. It leaves Patriot Park M-F at 6:30pm. In Gatlinburg it's called Winter Magic Trolley Ride of Lights. It departs from the aquarium 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm. It's 5.00 also. In Sevierville it's called Winterfest 3D. I don't think they have trolley. You can get the 3D glasses at the visitors center.

We did the Wonder Works on our last visit and both of us had alot of fun. It was my DD and I . We spent nearly 3 hours there. Orber Gatlinburg has ice skating and if it's cold enough they will make snow. You can tube and ski down the mountain. The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad in Bryson City, NC has a Polar Express Train that tells the PE story and arrives at the North Pole to see Santa. You get cocoa and cookies plus each child gets a gift from Santa. Also the Biltmore in Asheville, NC has the house decorated for Christmas. It's very nice to see depending on the kids ages. My DD was 6 and grew bored after about an hour. She is almost 10 and would appreciate the history and decor now. In Cherokee, NC they have a little amusement park called Santaland. They have fair type rides. It doesn't compare to DW but it's a thought. Granted those are in NC but they are pretty close by. Within a 2 hr drive.

Well that's all for now! If I can help ya out or check out anything for you please let me know. We will be up in that area in about 3 weeks celebrating at my DD's birthday.

We have never been at all! We are super excited to try something different. We hope to have family members to join us while we are down there and the Comedy Barn sounds like a keeper for all. I can't wait to get all the planning under way! :yay:

You do pay full admission, but the admission is less during the Christmas season (starting in early November). I don't recall the exact amount. It used to be $25, but that has been a few years. If you buy a season pass during the Christmas season, you get the rest of the current year and all of the following year for the early bird season ticket price.
