Gate to Gate IFE on VA

Virgin have launched Gate to Gate IFE now - we experienced this last week but didn't realise it was a new service we thought the crew just forgot to switch the entertainment system off

Anyway details here. You do have to use the supplied headphones during take off and landing as they have been tested to release safely during an evacuation.

I can remember a couple of occasions where I have missed the end of a really good film due to the IFE being switched off before landing so it can only be a good thing, to my mind

I like this, will be far easier to keep DD and DS entertained before takeoff and after landing next time

Yes i love this, my girls get restless quick on the plane as with kids you board first so wait around a long time so this will be fab

I totally LOVE this too, as a nervous flyer and hating the sounds of the engine and things during take off, this will be a welcome distraction!

I know it's irresponsible and for my own safety that i shouldnt do it and things but I just have to blast my music in my ears during takeoff to drown out the sounds so I'm glad they have done this!

Just to point out that they do not put it on until after you had the safety video and are pushed back.

It was nice having it coming into land though

We had this when we flew with Air New Zealand to LA last year and it was great.
You could use it from the minute you sat down as they interrupted whatever you were watching for the safety video and I was still watching it as they were switching off the seat belt signs after we landed as I was desperatly trying to finish the movie I was watching.
