We are considering getting our park tickets when we arrive on the gate (WDW), as we may not need too many days. Are they alot more expensive?

Do you know roughly how many days?
Will you want hop beteen parks in the same day?
Do you want to go into Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard beach?
Do you want access to Disney Quest?

Some tickets are cheaper in UK, some cheaper thru a US agent and a few cheaper at the gate, all depends on what type of ticket you want. Answer the 4 questions and it should narrow it down.

TBH, it is still under discussion! We don't want any water parks, and really aren't bothered about hopping parks with a baby (we've been there, done that!) I was looking at a non hopping ticket for 8 days and it seemed a better price than here.

If you look at this site it compares their discounted prices with gate prices including tax. http://www.mapleleaftickets.com/disney_tickets.htm

A 7 day discounted ticket is $257, gate price $263.
Next one is 10 day at $271, gate $279

$263 = £164
$279 = £174
Both are just base tix, 1 park 1 day.

UK tickets 14 day ticket £224 but theses allow access to water parks, hop & DQ.

If you are going back again in future years you can buy a 10 day at $279 and pay extra for any unused days to be non-expiry, that might be an option for you.

If you don't need to park hop or do water parks then an option is to get an 8 day Magic Your Way Base Ticket. Costs adult $268.38 (about £170), child $243.89 (about £156). These prices include taxes.

Sorry to jump on your thread Verity :flower3:

How does this work Wayne? We are going to use a 10 day ticket for my DH - probably using only 7 consecutive days - on the last day can I pay to make the last 3 days non expiry tickets? If so, any idea how much it is?

Just had a look at cost and 7 days is border line on a 10 day ticket. Doesn't matter if you use 1 day or 9 days its still costs $226 to upgrade to non expiry for the remaining days.
If you used 7 days then pay $226 the remaining 3 days cost you $75 each to keep for a future trip. possibly still worth doing if you only want 3 days for another trip, if you want more than 3 days on next trip probably worth buying a new ticket.
You need to look at costs and how you use tickets to see if its worth it, its more expensive to do than I expected.
