gate check stroller and car seat??

We are traveling with ds 8 and 15 mo- we are renting a van from dollar. I've asked and they don't give me an answer if they can guarentee a van with an intergrated car seat, (not even sure if dollar has them...) so we're stuck bringing ours. We want to gate check stroller and car seat- will this be a problem? I don't want to send car seat through with luggage. Can you gate check 2 items?? Our flight is non-stop....

Short answer is yes. There can be some conditions, so check with your airline. If you get hassled about getting the carseat through security because of the size, tell the TSA staff that the child will be sitting in it on the plane, and they will let it pass.

I've gate-checked both on many occasions; I doubt you will have any difficulty as long as you are flying domestically on a US carrier.

I remember a few years ago when my kids were younger I would gate check a total of 2 strollers and 2 car seats.

Why don't you use the car seat on the flight?
We just returned from a flight and did just that!...They let us on the plane with the first class passengers to hook it up, and DD was comfortable being in her seat! In fact, it worked so well, that we plan on using the car seat for our WDW flight in August!!
