For those that have traveled with a high back booster did you check it with your luggage or gate check it when you boarded the plane? I did get a soft sided bag for ir from Target, but I really don't want it to be damaged by bag handeling.

What has been your experience traveling with a booster?

Is your child riding in his/her own seat on the plane?
Why not have them SIT in the seat on the plane? It's actually safer for them!

Another great tip we like to use when traveling with carseats... get one of those folding travel carts... it makes it a lot easier to get around the airport without carrying a heavy carseat... and then they fold up flat so they're easy to stow away!

That's a good question.
I bought a "fly and drive" package and tried to contact the company that sold me the deal to ask about the booster (to see how much it would cost me renting one and the availability).

They said I would have to arrange with the car company once I arrive in Orlando. I'm just wondering: what if they don't have one available there? Does it mean I'll have to take the car myself and drive to a Walmart and buy one, going back to the airport to pick up my wife and son?

I also would like (if possible) to take my car booster but I can't find a box that will fit safely (don't want to break it either).

If anyone has suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

This booster doesn't have a 5 pt harness so you can't use it on the plane. I would love it if she could use it on the plane, but with only lap belts the booster is a no-go.

I would gate check it. It still ends up in the baggage hold however it's more likely to be put on top and less likely to be damaged that way.

Or if the backs come off, check those in your luggage and carry on just the bottom part so you'll be guaranteed to have something to use when you arrive. It's pretty unlikely your luggage would get lost but you never know.

We've usually just checked our booster. I only bring the bottom of the seat usually though. I put it in the bag with our other regular car seat. But someone mentioned taking the back off and putting it in your suitcase. Most boosters do come apart. I would think that would definitely be the best way to pack it, if it comes apart. A lot less risk of breaking.

We took booster/car seat with us in February on SW. I called the airlines and they suggested wrapping a blanket around it and putting in a bag and gate checking it. Worked out great.

We like to live on the edge - we checked ours with the luggage. The attendant placed it in a huge, heavy plastic bag and knotted the bag shut. It worked out great.

We had to travel with ours one way b/c the airline had no bags (and we were away from home and planned the trip afterwards and didn't bring our own bags).

We disasembled ours and put it in the overhead. :)

Don't know how old OP's kid is but for the majority of kids big enough for high back boosters...they must be ticketed anyway b/c they are probably over 24 months old. ;)

My 3.5 is still too small for a booster and my oldest wasn't large enough until after she turned 4.

(commenting as the weight on my booster is a minimum 40 pound weight before my girls can ride in it--same rule on their car seat that can be converted to a booster...but that isn't what we use for a booster).

We just got back from Seattle and I packed my son's booster seat in a big carseat bag. I just didn't use a lock on it so when we arrived it was easy to access for the car ride.

BTW congrats, Lisa loves Pooh - just saw your ticker! :wizard:

LOL!

I'm packing today so I will decide based on how far I think I want to carry the darn thing. I have 3 kids with me and the less stuff I have to haul on and off the place while keeping track of everyone, the better. I'll just cross my fingers and take my chances with whatever I decide!

Us too!

we just recently purchased this.. IT's wondeful.. folds up into it's own bag..DD 6 had finally out grown her car seat.. (1.5 at birth too, small world eh? ALL4fun :goodvibes )

Missouri changed their law to 80 lbs. we looked around alot before we decided on this one. Since it has the harness SW assured us she will be able to sit on it in the plane. :)
