Gasp! No parades beginning in Jan 2014?

From what I've heard we'll still have the Move It Shake It Celebrate it, which is almost like a parade!

Anyone heard of it going away?!

I LOVE the music in the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade! My favorite parade music by far. I'm sad to hear that it's leaving.

Having said that, we're normally quite busy or HOT at 3:00pm in the MK and never seem to make the time to watch the full show. I love hearing the music from it though.

Hopefully this new parade will have excellent music as well. The theming for the floats looks pretty cool. Something to look forward to if we make another trip next year!

Dan

On the HUB it still shows the Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade everyday in January, as for MK it shows only the MSEP on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Since this is all merely internet speculation at this point, I've moved this thread to the Disney Rumors and News forum. :)

I'm in the boat that hates parades. But, I like that I have shorter lines around the world when they are going on. So Boo! Bring back every parade ever known to man. Draw the crowds. :thumbsup2

I'm not a parade lover eithet but once is a must do for my littles

Not surprised at all - parades are a thing of the past at all Disney parks IMHO. I said this a couple of months ago and its slowly looking more and more true.

There are far too many people just sat there for over an hour in each park - without even a gift shop to exit through afterwards!

I find this all sad. I love parades, any parade, from the little town parades to the big fancy Disney ones.

So what time will people clear out of AK now?

CADCT will end at Christmas and will not return. The new afternoon parade will begin later in Spring (probably by Spring Break).

Rumor was concerning Animal Kingdom parade. I was just passing along that I had heard that there is discussion of cancelling that parade as well. I haven't heard that they were going to cancel MSEP, but it's like 1.3 million years old anyway.

What?!?! This is all news to me. I could care less about the Animal kingdom parade as it was our least favorite but canceling the Pixar Parade?! That was our favorite! Also, the MK parades? I can't see getting rid of Spectro Magic ever! It's been around forever and there would be an out cry like crazy! I wonder if Pixar went down in flames because of the RIFD interference problems. To which I would say (for the first time) Disney is destroying the magic of planning and possibly attending with the MASSES of troubles they are having thanks to their new "technology". Time to get your crap together guys! Really hoping there is some serious clarifications made at D23 because the fandom is getting unruly! :headache:

Pixar's been gone for 4 months now, with somewhere in the realm of little-to-no fandom outcry. Personally, the last DHS parade I really missed was Stars and Motorcars (what was that, 2 parades ago?). As far as Spectro, it's been gone for 3(4?) years now, and while I remember a medium-sized fandom outcry, for the most part the grand return of the Main Street Electrical Parade was rather successful.

As far as the Pixar parade being cancelled, I don't think it had anything to do with RFID problems. I'm also not sure how much consumer troubles are actually going on due to the new technology (probably more than I think...). The MagicBand/Fastpass+ is only in testing right now--any problems we hear about with that right now are good things, because they're being discovered and hopefully fixed while still in the testing phase, before full roll-out.

I don't expect them to make any announcements regarding the cancellation of parades at D23. If they are actually cancelling parades, the last place they'd want to announce it is at a mass convention of the people who would find parade cancellation most upsetting. If they're not cancelling parades, then it makes no logical sense for them to even so much as acknowledge those rumors at all, never mind refute them publicly--they'd want to spend all that time on all-positive announcing, as opposed to negative acknowledgement followed by positive refutation. If they are simply replacing parades with new parades, D23 would be a perfectly acceptable place to announce that, but honestly, so would a nice press conference or press release, and the press conference/release would be the better place to do so (indirectly, so as to avoid any even minor amount of direct, immediately publicized negative backlash). So no, I don't think we'll hear anything about the possible cancellation of parades at D23. If they are actually cancelling parades, and they felt the need to announce it months in advance--which with Disney isn't necessarily likely--I'd suspect they would cancel it shortly after the Expo, when the Disney blogging community will be busy with all the happenings of D23 and might miss a small, non-publicized cancellation announcement for at least a few days.

Honestly, I think if you're hoping for clarifications on anything at D23, you're going to be disappointed. Disney has already issued a statement basically saying they're not announcing any of the big expansions rumored to be happening at DHS at D23 this year. There's a rumor going around suggesting that Disney might cover some Avatarland expansion news at D23, which I think is likely, as expansion is a positive-sounding topic and since it's an ongoing process already, it's not like they're announcing something that will cost Disney even more money. I'd expect a rehashing of the original Avatarland announcement, with a few exciting buzzwords specifically tied to the current plans for the topic, but with little-to-no real substance. There might also be some exciting but insubstantial talk about FastPass+/MyMagic+/MagicBand/My Disney Experience/NextGen in general, but with as few actual hard facts and intricate details as possible. As several of these are still in testing phase, they won't be announcing anything that they're not completely tested and sure of already, which consists at this point of much of the whole MyMagic+ experience. We'll probably get some news based on what they do know from completed testing, and hopefully a time frame for complete rollout. Nothing that they can't spin positively (like the 1 park/day-only FastPass+ system) is likely to be confirmed at the Expo. And they won't be "clarifying" anything that's in the rumors online--the most they would do is announce something that already exists in online rumor form, and they'll only make announcements about rumors they can spin positively--so nothing like the cancellation of parades or the bugs in the NextGen system.

Will the lack of substantial announcements at D23 (unless I and a number of other posters are very, very wrong and Disney was also lying when it stated that there would be no major expansion announcements at D23) make the fandom unruly? Personally, I think the fandom has been unruly for a number of years. We're all human, and until Disney does everything perfectly all the time forever, we'll be upset about different things. Having lurked on these boards for many years and posted for a year or so now, I've noticed unhappiness about everything from napkin design to New Fantasyland--and don't get me started on Avatarland. But we keep going back. We can all get as unruly on the Internet as we'd like, but as long as we keep going back, we're not really accomplishing anything (not like we'd accomplish anything by not going back anyway, as the Disney "fandom" of the Internet makes up only a small percentage of their yearly attendance). Disney has proven that they can do almost anything they want with virtually no repercussions, because the people still keep coming back.

Also, for what it's worth, I do still miss Spectromagic. I like the Main Street Electrical Parade, don't get me wrong, but I love Spectro. I'm with you on wishing that one didn't go away/would make a grand comeback MSEP-style.

It's been confirmed, December 3rd will be the last running of the Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade. While I'm looking forward to a new and better parade, I'm still going to be sad to see this one go. It was the first parade I remember seeing on our first trip three years ago. I do wish they would auction off pieces of the floats or something. I would love to have one of those signs off the sides of them.

I find it ridiculous. Parades are a big part of seeing all the characters at once. While we may have only made time for the parades once.... our family is not impressed

I hope that's not true about the AK parade. So parades will only be at MK going forward? Sometime I wonder what the goal is with the other three parks but I guess that is a discussion for another thread.

I don't fully understand the idea to cut DAK's parade and hope it is a rumor that does not come to pass. It's not the greatest, but my family enjoys it and it helps to keep people in the park for most of the day. The only reason I could see for cutting it is to save money in running it, but they'd lose money by having fewer guests to the park and having guests stay for shorter.

Interestingly, there has been news that they are testing effects for a nighttime show at DAK on the Discovery River (in the wide area neat Asia), which could be part of longer hours. I'd like to imagine that it would be in addition to a daytime parade, not instead of it.

As for DHS and parades, I think they are just going to get DCA's Pixar parade once DCA gets a new parade this upcoming year.

Disney website still lists parade after 12/3. Not sure if this is 100% yet or not. Also they do the Christmas parade after the mvmcp ends on 12/19. Maybe they will run that a few days sooner if they really do close parade on 12/3

As someone who works on Discovery Island in DAK and sees that parade every day, I'd be very sad to see it go. It has a different feel than any of the MK parades and I love the music. I hope this is just a rumor!

What wrong with Disney? There should be a Christmas parade and Halloween one.

What wrong with Disney? There should be a Christmas parade and Halloween one.

They do have a Christmas parade, and a Halloween one. The Halloween parade can be seen by attending the Magic Kingdom's Mickey's Not-so-Scary Halloween Party. The Christmas parade can be seen by attending the Magic Kingdom's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, or by attending the Magic Kingdom during the day anytime after December 19 this year. In addition, there is a Christmas-themed parade (Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade) at the Animal Kingdom starting in early November.

Then there are the standard daily parades, the ones not connected to major holidays. Currently, there are 2 daytime parades, and 1 nighttime parade. The Animal Kingdom runs Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade every afternoon (except during the run of the Christmas version); the Magic Kingdom runs Celebrate a Dream Come True every afternoon and the Main Street Electrical Parade every night.

Celebrate a Dream Come True is rumored to close 12/3, but Disney still has it scheduled till 12/19. It would make sense that the Celebrate parade is going away, as the parades are often tied to the yearly promotion/theme, and the Celebrate promotion is over. In this case, we can expect that there will likely be a new parade debuting after the Christmas season ends, matching next year's theme. I suppose it is also possible that the daytime parade is going away forever...but with little to no evidence of any kind indicating that Disney has decided to rid itself of the daytime parade, that seems unlikely to me.

As for the Animal Kingdom parade, Disney has made no indication whatsoever that it is going away. It's also still on the Disney website's schedule for the Animal Kingdom through February (February being the last entertainment schedule Disney has posted). While Disney is perfectly capable of cancelling something that is currently scheduled, without any real evidence I don't think it is likely.

And, of course, we have no indication that the Main Street Electrical Parade is going anywhere. So, if the rumors turn out to be spot on and the Celebrate and AK parades both end up cancelled, there will still be a daily parade at the Walt Disney World Resort.

I would like this as well. My family loves that parades, and AK is one of our favorites. One of the nicest aspects was that the Christmas version was not an extra. I would hate to see it go.
