What's with them??
Oil is still only $45 a barrel (or was the other day?) and it's climbed 10 cents in this past week.
Makes me reallllly mad:sad2:

Finally! I thot I was the only one getting really ticked by it all!! :headache:

What gets me, is when oil drops gas prices stay the same for weeks, then when oil goes up, the pumps are higher the same bleepin' day!!!!!

My hubby drove over the border to fill up (we're 10 min. away) and filled up for about $22 US. I couldn't believe it, FILLED FOR $22!! Even with exchange, it's a good deal. This is when I love that we moved down here, plus the cheap shipping from Disney shopping site. :tinker:

You're a border-crosser, too, aren't you? ;)

Yes!! When oil goes up we see it imediately! When it drops tho-whole different story! I am a cross-border shopper. Went across last week and filled my car for $34. Costs me about $59+here at the moment. So not cool. Also picked up some packages we had shipped from Florida a couple of weeks back....

I am going to start paying with Amex and putting it in in $20 installments so they get slammed with the fees!! They aren't playing fair--why should I??;)

Where I live it's been going up and down about 5cents for the longest time. Really though, as long as it is under 90 cents I don't care what the price is because the difference is only about $4 per tank. I just think back to paying $85 at the pump and I'm reminded that the current price is great.

Well I do care. It's not the dollar amount, it's the manipulation.
They play these games and have people think exactly that way! Soon, when there is no grumbling..it creeps higher...It's a recession. Gas should NOT be this high.

I didn't get what you meant at first about the Amex installments. Unless something's changed since I last had a business, they don't pay per transaction, it's just a percentage of sales at the end of each month. So they might lose say, 2.5% of their sales paid by that credit card. But 2.5% is still 2.5% less out of their pocket - go for it! I pay by cc for EVERYTHING to get miles, and yes, it's paid off dutifully every month.

I love :lovestruc getting stuff shipped over the border and skipping over to get it, I feel like I'm doing something guilty, but it makes me so happy. The dollar has slowed me down, tho. :sad1: We sometimes mail parcels over the border, too. Canada Post prices are double shipping in the states. See, if our gas was taxed less, Canada Post wouldn't have to charge as much....and so on, til the country prospers beyond what was thot possible. ;)

Well at least using Amex they are paying more fees than a regular CC so that would make me 'feel' somewhat vindicated. Giving to them what they are giving to me! I meant small amounts at various gas stations..give them all their share!;)

I do 75% of my shopping Stateside. I was in Florida a couple of weeks back and we got the BEST buys. We even bought 3 ceiling fans for our porch and 2 outdoor lights at Loews and had them shipped. Declared them in our $750 pp 'to follow' and went down to pick them up a few days after we got home. Cost us $30 USD to ship via UPS. Cannot beat that. Whenever possible, I won't play their nonsense games here.

I've never heard of declaring items 'to follow'. How does this work? I have a few 'big ticket' items that I have had shipped to my Aunt's place in the States and was planning on picking them up on the way back from our DC, and declaring them with our 750 pp. However, it would be rather late in the evening and if I could do it another day and not have to pay at the border, that would be great.

You just tell them that you have purchases following. I am not sure if you are arriving via air or car? On the Customs Dec there is a part that says "I/We have shipped goods which are not accompanying me/us" you tick that, then that have you complete another form stating what it is and the value etc. You then take this form along with the bill of the purchases. Go across and collect and declare as such on the way back in. Sometimes they wave you through with a thanks other times send you in, but you are in and out in 5 minutes and pay no duty. As long of course that your original purchases are within the $750 pp allowance.

Easy!:thumbsup2
