Gas Prices - have you seen a major increase?

Gas in South Carolina (at least where I live) has gone up over 20 cents per gallon over the last two days. On Tuesday, prices went up about 9 cents. As I was driving home this afternoon, the stations that were $2.15 this morning had increased to $2.25 this afternoon.

Anyone know what's up with this?!

Yes, gas prices have been on the rise again in San Antonio....Last week the average in my area was 1.97-2.05 gal....now it is about 2.20 gal. What is up with this?? Does anyone know why the ups and downs?? I suspected the rise was due to holiday travel but that should be over by now.

Since right before Christmas where our area saw a low of $1.99....at some stations here its now $2.35............it is so frustrating

Yup. Gas was $2.23 last Thursday. Today it was $2.49!

Ours went up just before New Year's, and they've stayed up. You can pay anywhere between $2.14 and $2.25 or higher.

Ours has gone up also but we're used to it being so high and unpredictable that it's become a guessing game up here (upstate/western NY). It was 2.39 a gallon about a week or so ago and today it was 2.45 a gallon

In western Massachusetts, we saw an increase from $2.23 a gallon to $2.36, and I haven't a clue why. aw:

$2.39-$2.49 here in NW Ohio. With no industrial accidents, weather events,
or natural disasters to use as excuses, must be some more "profit recovery"
happening

Saw it at $2.51 today

The station up the block from me is 2.59...I would love to be paying the prices some of the people on this thread are paying..I haven't seen it under 2.00 since well before the hurricane season!

I found this, maybe it is some explaination. I was thinking the same thing though, why was gas going up? In CT, I was paying $2.19 or so for the past few weeks it seems. I was hoping to see it go down even more, maybe even back under $2! Guess I was wrong!

I don't have a car right now, but my son-in-law was telling me that between the time he passed the gas station on his way to work yesterday morning and when he came home in the afternoon, it had gone up 7 cents.. I think he said it was something like $2.43 a gallon now..

I think these gas games are going to be an ongoing thing so it's really going to come into play big time when I start shopping for my new car..
