gas prices could reach $4 here...

I am in California - I just filled up my Tahoe at $2.99 a gallon as Costco.

Did you also hear recently that the President hadn't heard the predictions of $4.00 a gallon for gas?

This will soon be my mode of transportation..... no more diesel...I'm using a hay burner!

When I "hit the road" in 1971, gas prices were $0.36/gallon. With that price came: windshield wash, check the oil, check the tires, and/or green stamps or a glass, or whatever trinket they gave away that week. In 1974, IIRC, we had about 3-4 months of gas lines & the ability to purchase gas only on certain days. Egads!!! Those gas lines were awful!! I remember DH following me to a gas station where I would leave my car overnite so that I would be first in line to fuel up the following day! YIPES!!!

Ah yes, the gas rationing. It went by the last number of your license plate - odd numbers on odd days, even number on even days. I had an odd numbered plate, so I made out okay - there are more odd days in the year than even. Remember when the big speculation was gas hitting a buck a gallon? Remember how long it hovered around 98.9 and 99.9? Then, once that dollar mark was crossed, suddenly there was plenty of gas!

Yeah! I remember my dad saying that if cigarettes went over a buck, he'd quit smoking, and if gas went over a buck, he'd quit driving! Well, he just quit buying! He smoked my cigs & let me drive him everywhere!!:lmao:

Me, being the dutiful daughter that I was, let him get away with it!!! (Ntsammy5 was smart - he lived 1200 miles away & got a free vacation with mom & dad in Florida once a year - hey.... he still gets a free vaction.... only he gets a free FtW vacation by staying in DSis's MH!)

Heck, back in high school, I could take my girlfriend out for $5. $2 for gas and the rest went to get us into the movie and Mcdonald hamburgers afterward. Reason it took so much gas was that I live way out town. Long way from the beach to civilization.
I had to stop the diesel pump the other day at $80 with my truck. It wasn't full yet but I couldn't stand watching the dollars roll over on the meter anymore.

We lucked out this trip - DH is presenting 2 papers at an conference in Orlando next week. Gee, wonder why we decided first week of March would be a good time to visit WDW? As his company are not paying for his flights & hotel room for 2 nights, they are paying for our gas. Phew!

I paid $2.96 yesterday, but its generally over $3 here.

Bex
p.s DH is "in oil" so we're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Put 18 miles on my bicycle today going to the food store and the hardware store. Still better than 100mpg scooter.

Tomorrow should be a 75 mile bike ride with a good friend.

Sunday will be fishing for Snook and Flounder at the beach. Pretty nice right now in SW FL.

If you need to drive through SW virginia, it is 3.55 here. Awful! But not as bad as some other places.

Scott, since Miss Sundee loves you so much I'll bring my 5'er to the fort and drop it off for you so you don't have to bring your rig. I can't see anybody missing the fort that loves it like you guys do. We'll fix those oil barons. The only thing I want in return is for you to make my crew cab look as good as your's.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: BTW, I'm serious on the offer. All you gotta do is say the word.

We went to Wide World of Sports today and I filled up in Orange City for $3.59. on the way home.

Is that diesel? Regular is 3.15 here. I'm feeling real thankful! I'm a mini-van mama  and only need to fill up everyother week.

Yes that's diesel. The days of using diesel because of extra mileage and lasting longer are over. I know many people who have gas motors that are just as efficient as mine and have tons of miles on em. I think, (BDD) would know better, but my diesel/allison trans was about a $6k option in 2004 when I got this truck.

I think I saw that regular unleaded was about that here.. I of course was to busy getting mad at what I had to pay to feel joy about how much less it cost to fill up DW's car..:lmao: I am lucky enought to work close enough to home that I only have to fill up about every 3 weeks ( I know, you feel a little less sorry for me now ).. If only I could hook the 5er to the Harley:woohoo: ...
