Garland v Hilton Universal

Any thoughts? Pros/cons of both. Family of 4 (boys 10 and 14) and will go to universal, Hollywood highlights and Santa Monica pier.

I was debating between these 2 hotels as well and ultimately went with the Garland (seems like a nicer hotel). There is currently a Groupon for the Garland which makes it cheaper than the Hilton. The only pro for the Hilton for me was the distance.

Universal Hilton is a much nicer hotel. The Garland was a Holiday Inn prior to being renovated a few years ago. It's a boutique hotel now, but it definitely still have a motel-ish vibe in some places. You can probably get a much better rate at the Garland, but there is a bar there that can get pretty busy, so make your room request carefully.
