GardenGrocer vs. WeGoShop vs. DVC grocery order

We just came back from WDW and used We Go Shop for our grocery delivery. I priced our order on Garden Grocer and even though we were over the $200 required for free delivery, it was still cheaper to go with We Go Shop. Prior to placing my order, I asked Marge if there was an additional fee to use a CC and she said "No". Granted, we'd ordered adult beverages and were in the room when the groceries were delivered - perhaps that is the difference?

Overall, we were very pleased with Marge's service. Amy was our shopper; she purchased everything as requested. She even called while shopping to clarify one of the items.

We've used Garden Grocer previously and were satisfied with the price/service. However, I like being able to specify the exact items - we'll use Marge's service next time for that reason.

This is great information. I have always wondered which would work out cheaper Garden Grocer with their marked up food or We Go Shop with their service charge. I have always had a hunch We Go was cheaper.

Do you usually tip the person who delivers the groceries, or is that assumed as part of the fee?
Thanks,
Mike

We used WeGoShop last year and it was great and I will use them in the future. No extra charge for using a credit card. The groceries were waiting for me when I checked in. I told her she was able to make some substitutions of my list if she found sales. She did and it saved us even more money.

I loved WeGoShop and will use Marge again.

This is all great info! Two more questions, though:

1. How early to I have to place the order with Wego or with GG?

2. I'm looking on the GG website - can't seem to find any beer/wine on there! What's up with that??

TIA!

Also... what do the resort gift shops sell? We're staying at AKV... I've also had the over-ordering problem in the past, so am considering bringing dry goods myself and then just getting milk/butter/eggs from the shop. Am I right that these basics are available there?

I am planning on using WeGoShop, I have already had an email from Marge answering a question. Here is another though: To use a credit card, do we have to be present or do I give it to her on the website?

You can find the order list for all resorts on the DVC Member site. The order form lists all available items at each resort. You just have to complete the form and fax it to the number provided at least 3 days prior to check-in.

Can you get cut to order deli meats from Marge?

I don't think this would be a problem. Marge has always been great in picking up anything I asked for.

One trip last year DD and I were going down alone. As we were driving down to the airport hotel the night before we left I realized that I had forgotten to pack allergy eye-drops. I texted Marge since I thought it was too late to call. She texted back immediately and added them to my list! No problem.

We did get some wompy substitutions this trip on our Wal-Mart Take 'n Bake pizzas and ice cream, but all in all I think she is a God-send. I don't ever plan to try to shop at the W-M closest to WDW ever again!

I am also sure I didn't pay a 13% mark up for my credit card payment.

If you are only grabbing a few things & it looks like according to your vacation schedule that you'll be at BWV this year, you might consider just walking over to Hess. It's a very easy walk & the prices are much better than the resort prices. Someone mentioned the DTD Hess & we've also gone there when staying at SSR.

We've also just taken a taxi & the cost of that more than made up for delivery fee & tip. Although we had to do the shopping & lugging the bags up to the villa ourselves, we don't mind & we prefer to pick out what we want & shop for pool toys, souveneirs etc.

This last trip at BLT we did just what Goofy4tink is discussing & that was to pack coffee, filters, etc. & we just picked up a few things like milk, wine, donuts at the Contemporary store. Although it was more than we'd like to pay, it was only a few things so it wasn't too bad.
I've walked over to the Hess station before, when at BWV, but I never really checked it out. I just grabbed my water and soda and left. Do they have diary and such there as well??? I have my dh along so he can be the pack mule back to BWV...or just take our rolling bag with us!!

Yes they don't have a huge selection, especially since they sell beer & wine which takes up a lot of room. They do have the basics that any convenience store would have. My DH did bring a collapsable rolling cooler & that worked great. He bought some english muffins, butter, milk, Coke, beer, Mike's, and probably a few other things, but that was a couple of years ago so I don't remember exactly. He said that the Hess at BWV is bigger than the DTD location & had a better selection.
