Garden View Tea Room with a child

I was looking for a place to have tea with my DD3 and the menu and china looks beautiful. I see that they have a children's menu:

Mrs. Potts Tea - For the younger "tea lover" in your party, we offer a variety of tea sandwiches, tuna salad, ham and cheese and peanut butter and jelly on white bread. We serve our magical dark tea (chocolate milk) followed with a choice of 2 pastries. Priced per guest. - $10.50

I was wondering if the children's sandwiches and "dark tea" are served in the china as well? I'd hate to bring her out for tea and she get served on something different??? What was your experience here?

My daughter and I went in June. She is 9 and she got her own teapot filled with Chocolate Milk. Also she is very picky and they made her only peanut butter sandwiches per her wish. I had the princess blend and it was the best tea I have ever had at a tea sitting. The sandwiches are good and the pastries were awesome. I hope this helps.

Does anybody know if they will serve kids real tea? My preschooler would expect tea in a teacup instead of chocolate milk.

Have you considered the Perfectly Princess Tea instead of the more formal Gardenview Tea?

I know it's more expensive to do the Princess tea but it's definitely geared for children and I would think it might be a better choice if it's not outside of your price range. My hubby and I have enjoyed afternoon tea many times at the GF and we've rarely seen children there - the one time we did see kids they were probably about 10 years old and better able to sit quietly through the meal, which is rather leisurely. Although they do offer a children's tea menu at the Gardenview Lounge, I don't think it's the most child-friendly establishment on property, especially for young children.

Here's some info on the princess tea in case you haven't seen it:

Your little girl can dress up and have a special tea party with Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. The tea party is hosted by "Rose Petal" a magical rose from Aurora's garden, who will lead sing-alongs, storytelling and a princess parade. In addition to the tea party, princess cake and meet and great with Aurora, each guest from 3-11 will receive "My Disney Girl" collectable doll plus accessories; a tiara, Princess link bracelet, princess scrapbook page and a "Best Friend" certificate.

Adults receive a selection of hot tea and a luncheon plate with small sandwiches, cheese briquettes, lavosh crackers and fruit.

Children receive juice and a luncheon plate with fruit, small sandwiches and heart-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

$250 includes gratuity (but not tax) for one adult and one child ages 3-11. Additional adult guest (12 and older) is $85 plus tax and an additional child is $165 plus tax. Refunds available if you cancel more than 72 hours from the date of your event.

LOL...I was just thinking the same thing about my 3 year old She would say, "mommy, this is chocolate milk, not tea!"

There were a couple of 3yo's there when I went last time. I think it depends on your child and whether they would enjoy it enough to sit still. I am considering bringing DS4 because he's a real tea drinker, but somehow I don't think the princesses are his "cup of tea".

We just finished a cup of Garden View blend together. Mmmmm.....

I am sure you can have your choice of tea or other beverage for the little one.

It is such a fancy type thing to do that many little ones would love the whole dress up tea time.

As I said in your other thread, I think it depends very much on your daughter. If she can sit quietly, it'll be just fine.

My question would be how much she'd enjoy that, it's going to be kind of a restrictive atmosphere for her.

I think it's a fabulous mother-daughter experience, my mom and I do it every time we go. For a kid that age......well, I think it'd be a much nicer time for both of you in a few years, when she's old enough to appreciate it.

I am taking my dd(3 in dec) to the afternoon tea....I just cant pay 225.00 for a tea party but it would be fun I am sure.I dont know if she will sit still the whole time but she will like it,we alsways play tea party at home.It will be at christmas time and the GF it will be so pretty at that time,I can not wait.
