Anyone ever try the Garden Grove weekend character breakfast at the Swan? We will be staying at BWV next July for 10 nights, and my sister, nieces and parents are joining us for the first 4 nights. They will check out on a Saturday and it would be nice to enjoy a character breakfast together.

I have a few questions about Garden Grove. Which characters are there for the weekend breakfast? I'm a DVC member and currently, we get 20% off at Garden Grove. Would the weekend character breakfast be included for this discount, or no because it is considered a special meal? If I could use my 20% off (that is, if it is still available as a member perk in 2010 and they accept it for the character meal), could I use it for the entire party of 10 or just for DH and myself since we will be the 2 DVC members at the table?

And last but not least...for those of you who have gone to this character breakfast, how is the food and character interaction? How does it compare to other breakfasts at the Disney-run restaurants? And, do they take ADRs?

Good questions. We did the w/e character breakfast in November 2008, and plan to do it again later this year. The discount worked fine for our party of 5, no issues at all. I was paying, so everyone was on my bill. The discount is what actually caught my attention, as we were scrambling for a late breakfast on the final day of our visit.

The food is excellent, and I'd say somewhat comparable to Fresh at the Dolphin. Omelet station, fresh food, Starbucks coffee, great juice, nice cereal selection, eggs benedict, etc..... We did it on a Sunday, and the place was less than 1/2 full. The character interaction was superb. For our meal, there was Pluto, Goofy, Chip, and Dale (NOTE: characters are subject to change). I don't recall them being all out at once, they worked in shifts I think, but there was lots of interaction, especially with Goofy and Pluto. I'd say the character interaction was better than any other character meal we have attended (best since they cancelled the Pooh & Friends breakfast at Artist Point oh so many years ago). It was better than Crystal Palace and Cape May, both of which we did in 2008.

Yes, they do take ADR's. We didn't need one, but yes they were taking them last year.

We plan to do this meal again in 2009. I will probably review it then, if you want to check back a few months from now. If you have any other questions, I'll try to help out if I have an answer.

I have but it has been several years ago. I loved it, the food was better at the time then the other breakfast buffets in the parks. the Characters we had there were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy. They were not very busy so we got a lot of attention from them. Mickey and Goofy sat down at the table next to us and just kinda hung out for a good 10 minutes. I am planning a boardwalk stay next year and I will go back to garden grove.

Sounds great! My mom and sister both LOVE Goofy too so I hope he is there if we decide to go! I am gonna ask everyone before ADR time if they would like to go there. The 20% off is very attractive, and the food sounds great! It would be a nice way for my sister, nieces and parents to end their trip at WDW, and a nice breakfast for DH, myself and the boys on one of our "non-park" days!
