I'm interested in the Garden Grove weekend breakfast(characters?) Do I make a rs on the regular MDE,or on open table? I'm a little confused....

You might be able to do either. It shouldn't be confusing. Since it's not a fully Disney run restaurant there might be other ways to make a reservation besides mde. You can also call the Swan and make a res, too. No big deal, just make your res whichever way you wish. You might not even need one. For some reason, I think they might not take them in the mornings, but if you can make one, go for it.

thanks- they don't do reservations in the mornings? we have a larger group, so I'm concerned we wouldn't get seated without one

Can I call at 180 days out to ask,or should I wait?

I was on the Disney site logged into my MDE and I can see breakfast times listed for Garden Grove when I check - but only up to Jan 6 2018. After that you can only select dinner times. Is this a change and the only way to get weekday breakfast reservations there is to call? Or are they eliminating breakfasts altogether and just doing dinners now?

IDK, but they have characters at breakfast only on Saturday and Sunday. Characters are at dinner every night, but on weeknights, it is only Pluto and Goofy. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, you get them plus Chip & Dale.

Garden Grove is a real hidden gem for people who don’t have a Dining Plan. It’s a relaxing atmosphere, and the desserts are made in a World Class pastry chef’s kitchen. The dinner buffet Thursday through Sunday includes AYCE crab legs and half of a stuffed lobster per person. If someone in your group has a AAA membership card, you get 20% off the buffet price.

And if your party enjoys craft beer, the resort’s exclusive brew, Phins and Feathers, comes in pitchers. It’s quite good. :)

We had a party of 10 and they had no problem seating us. We saw Chip, Dale, Pluto and Goofy. I love any buffet where you can get made to order eggs. And they offer a AAA discount :) We did a Sunday morning breakfast followed by mini golf at Fantasia Gardens.

awesome, what time did you go? anyone know what times weekend character breakfasts are?

We went around 9:45. We took bus to Hollywood Studios early that morning, did TSMM, and then took the boat over for breakfast :) It was a busy morning! Website says 6:30 - 11:30 for breakfast, but does not say what time the characters are there.
