Garden Grove - horrible

I've been saying the same thing about GG for years...so disgusting! We went in 2006 and would never eat there again. I don't understand how so many people on these boards seem to love it so much, but to each his own I guess. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Used to love GG years ago, awful 3 or 4 years ago; waited and still disgusting in April 2012. What happened? It used to be my favorite!:confused3

While I am no fan of the garden grill...it was NOT a buffet. Food was "meh", but not buffet style.

As I said, we at dinner there in March, and we all loved it! Disgusting must be in the eye (and taste buds) of the beholder.:rotfl2:

I feel the same way!!!!! The food is nasty. I truly only liked the mickey mousse dessert and mashed potatoes. The restaurant is dingy and ugly. Character interaction was good though!

We felt the same way! The characters were awesome - the food not so much. We liked the salad. Great for some people, just not us.

My family would vote ick for this one. Many years we would walk by and say how cool it must be to eat there. We finally tried it in July. It was old and dingy and the food was terrible. The initial platter came out for the 5 of us with about a 1/4 cup of potatoes on it. Everyone got one spoon full. The fish was not tasty and the beef was way too chewy. We were very disappointed in this dining experience.

We had the same problem with all the food - 7 of us; barely enough for 2!!! The waitress seemed annoyed when we asked for more and it took forever to get it. And, the food wasn't very good. It just never used to be this way - bring back the old Garden Grill!!! :thumbsup2

We go to *Garden Grill* every time we're at Disney, our last visit being last spring.

I agree that they bring too little food out initially but that is probably what they are instructed to do. We were 4 adults and as soon as he put the platter down, I asked for another :rotfl2:

We found the food to be very good, especially the beef! We had Kurt as our server and he was super nice and got us whatever we wanted. I am going to ask for him again!

Go Kurt :cheer2:

We ate at the Garden Grove at the Swan last year for a character breakfast and I thought it was pretty good! The food was fine and the character interaction was excellent. I'm sorry that the OP had a bad experience there.

OP said Garden Grove in the subject line. We went to the Friday night seafood buffet last Oct. and it was great. We had yummy food, 1/2 stuffed lobsters from the kitchen, great seared scallops. The character interaction with my grandson was great. They had Goofy, Pluto , Chip and Dale. There are 3 different buffet menus based on the day. I would definitely eat there again.

Glad you had a good dinner.

The OP corrected the subject line at some point, and that was helpful. In the meantime, this thread has morphed into a wacky combination of opinions/reviews of two very different, but similar named restaurants.
I really think this thread is past it's sell-by date.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

We love the Garden Grove... always had a great experience and found the food to be delicious. In fact, we're having our wedding reception there in 2 months.

Can't comment on the Garden Grill as we've never eaten there but always have wanted to!

i had a similar experience in May of this year (only Pluto showed up, though). great food (really enjoyed the half lobster) and even better desserts. with a DVC discount, it was an amazing deal. like any restaurant, i'm sure it can vary but i'm planning to go back...

Can I add in my feelings about the Garden Gallery at the old Disney Inn? I had a lunch there back in January of 1992, so I'm sure my thoughts would still be relevant.
