Anyone have any opinions on the breakfast buffet at Garden Grove? We are doing the Bon Voyage breakfast one day and want a second breakfast to add to our plans that is near The Boardwalk. I am seeing that they have a buffet during the week that is $23 without characters and it looks like with a few less food options and then they have a character buffet on the weekends for $25 that has some added food options. Does anyone know if the food options on the buffet are the same or different depending on the day that you go?

Fresh Med at Swan/Dolphin might have a breakfast buffet for a few dollars more. No characters on weekends at Fresh Med.

My opinion on the buffet at Garden Grove is that the earlier you go, probably the better, I've only gone once, non weekend, and I can say that the good stuff was pretty fantastic, and the not so good stuff was pretty bad. Most on the non-good stuff was clearly just out for too long, but in the restaurant's defense, we went late in the am, and I'm guessing they weren't planning on refreshing anything at that time. The good stuff, however, was really good.
Examples of the good stuff, imo:

Fresh egg station - omelets or eggs made to order - fantastic
Individual smoothies on ice - fantastic - really fantastic
Hot cereal and yogurt bar (oatmeal, grits, and a few yogurts with all kinds of toppings) - fantastic
Fresh Fruit - fantastic

Not so great:
Breakfast meats old and salty
Premade scrambled eggs (same as anywhere else at a disney breakfast buffet)
Pre-made Breakfast sandwiches on grilled bread - egg, tomato, cheese. These seemed like they could have been fantastic an hour or so earlier.
Pancakes - ditto - obviously old.
Most of the pastries we tried seemed grocery store quality, but the cinnamon rolls? The cinnamon rolls were pretty darned good if you like dense/chewy sweet rolls.

Would I go there again? Well, for the price, since it's in Disney, and prices can be crazy, then I'd say it has potential to be very well worth the price if you get there when everything is fresh. If you go late in the am, you might get stuff that's not so fresh, which is par for the course. I'd say the good stuff at the late hour we went was even borderline worth the price alone. It really was very good. I think if you go when everything's fresh and being replenished, you'll be very happy.

I can't speak for the variety of items on different days. You might wanna call the restaurant to feel them out on it.

We are planning on going at around 7:30am to still hit Epcot for RD. I called them and she said they do not take reservations for breakfast so I think we will just play it by ear and see if we want another sit down breakfast on that day. The woman I talked to said that they do have an extended buffet on weekends with items such as crab eggs benedict.

I HATE buffets but occasionally my Ex would want to Fresh Med at the Dolphin. I could get over the buffet yuck there because it was super clean and juices are outstanding. I drank more in juice alone that if I had ordered it ala carte. I'm betting the high quality extends to the Garden Grove as both resorts tend to have the same standards.

We did the weekday breakfast buffet in Dec and did not like it. We were there around 7:30 am and it was not crowded. The food wasn't that great and there was not a lot of it but it cost more than the wonderful character breakfasts we have been to. I would suggest even though it is a character breakfast to do Cape May instead or Captain's Grille if it is open when you go.

I'd just like to point out that at both Fresh and Garden Grove, they offer an a la carte menu in addition to the buffet. Not everybody in your party has to opt for the buffet.

I forgot to mention in my other post about Garden Grove that I am the only one that did the buffet. I have a few family members with food allergies so they did a la carte and did not like the food either.

I've eaten at the weekend character breakfast buffet.
I went first thing in the morning at 7:30am. The food was hot and fresh. They weren't busy yet.
The smoothies were fantastic. I loved their coffee (it's starbucks)
There are only 2 characters and they appear 8 to 11 a.m
I liked the food but I'm not very picky. I felt that there was a good variety
For $25 I thought it was a good value for a character breakfast.

Cape May also has a character breakfast. The price starts at $35 for adults and varies depending on time of year.

I went Sunday morning in September and had a great experience. I love that they will make your eggs to order for you. And the servers brought goofy over to us as we were leaving when we mentioned that we hadn't seen him. They were for character circulating the day we were there. And I'm pretty sure they also take AAA discount.
