Just curious - is using Garden Grocer worth it? What are the pros? What are the cons?

Thanks!

We love the service - have used it three times - ready to place an order for our fourth with them. Never had a problem and easy to order. The only thing I would say is our first time we included a tip during check out and did not receive a call to notify us of delivery - no big deal as I called as everything was waiting at bell services. Now I don't tip until it is delivered and if they choose to drop it off earlier than scheduled, I tip bell services for bringing it to the room. Good selection, decent prices (compared to what I pay here in PA) and no shopping on vacation!!!!

Very convenient, at a cost. The item pricing is probably a tad higher than what you'd personally pay in a Publix or Winn Dixie, but only by a few pennies here or there. There is also a delivery fee, and you'll want to tip the driver and (if necessary) bell services.

If you won't have a car, or don't want to be bothered with shopping, it is a very nice service. Sometimes we use it, other times I shop. Partly it depends on when we arrive and what else we have planned that first day. We can often get by with picking up just enough in the resort store for breakfast, and going out the next day "for real."

We've used them twice now and have been very happy with their service. Yes the prices might be a little higher, but not having to grocery shop on vacation is worth every cent! The first time they forgot part of our order in the truck but just as we called the driver was already coming back because he realized his mistake. Very professional and polite each time we've used them. Also, you can add things to your order that isn't listed on their website. We usually order some wine and beer and they deliver it no problem.

We were very pleased with the groceries, delivery, pricing and overall service. We had some trouble when first placing the order on the website. It did get straightened out, but it was somewhat annoying at the time.

We will definitely use them again!

Between ME bringing us (and the bags) and GC bringing the food and wine, (oh, and DVC-including AP discount), our WDW trips are at a new level of convenience and quality. Maybe add OL next.

I am confused am i not reading the order form correctly. It seems like water is still 3.50 a bottle isn't that cheaper in the parks. Is it possible to get a case of water for less money or do you have to order what is on the form.

We have never done this before and expect to pay a little more for the conveinence but that seems like a lot.

We've used Garden Grocer twice so far, and had no problems. I think the minimum order amount had to be $40, which is no problem for us. We'll be using them again in November.

I couldn't agree with this statement any more!

I'm hearing a lot of great things about Garden Grocer, but how about We Go Shop. Has anyone used them and how did you like them? We are seriously thinking about using one of them for our July trip and would love to hear your opinions on We Go Shop too if anyone has used them.

Another Garden Grocer lover here! The convenience of having food delivered and ready to go when we get to the resort is such a stress relief. When we arrived at SSR in January, there was record freezing temps that night. We were so glad that we could just spend a warm, cozy evening in our villa. You can build a favorites list and then use that to order if you wish. I always add the tip to the order. On the website, it indicates that the tip also goes to the picker and the person who fills your order, in addition to the driver. Even if the groceries are not delivered to me personally, they were actually delivered, so I think that a tip for that is still appropriate. We also tip Bell Services if they help us bring them up to our room. I also like the ability to pay through Paypal on their website. I haven't tried Wego Shop, but they seem to get very good reviews from people who have used them.

Another Garden Grocer Lover here. We have used them 4 times and every time it was great! The fruits were fresh and the bread wasn't squished :)

Not sure about GG, as we are using them for the first time this April. We do however order a case or two of water from Costco for every trip. For a case it is just over $6 including delivery. I'm pretty sure you can order it even if you are not a Costco member. Sure beats paying for water at the park.

figment41 I'm not sure which order form you are looking at - go to www.gardengrocer.com and you can look at items by category a case of water (Crystal Springs) is $7.99, we ususally get one case and then 2-3 gallons of water - which is a great deal cheaper at $1.79 gallon - we then refill the bottles.

A lot of people use We Go Shop. Their business model is a little different, as I understand it. They will shop whereever you want -- including Costco, BJ's, etc -- and the price you pay is the amount of your receipt, plus a small service charge ($22 for orders between $100-200) Particularly if you order a LOT of food (or order from a discount house), they may be a little less expensive.

We have never used either service, but from the threads I've seen here, both companies generally give good service. And both have gone through some rough patches. WGS had some issues when the business changed hands, but that was only for a very short period. There were a lot of complaints about Garden Grocer initially, and they went through some customer service nightmares for a while.

But I think both have smoothed out now and people using both are well-satisfied.

Sorry, I was looking at the list on the DVC Member website. I thought that is what you were talking about. gardengrocer.com seems to have a much larger less expensive list.

So since we never did this before and seems like you have to (or it is nice to) tip a lot of people what percentage is enough to cover everyone.

Thanks:wizard:

You can just order a couple of cases of water from Costco and they will deliver it?? Really? Hummmm...

I have reservations about using a grocery delivery service because of the timing for the delivery. And how do they find you for the delivery? What if you're not checked in yet? I guess they just leave the stuff somewhere? If you ARE checked in do they bring it TO you or do you go meet them in the lobby?

We never arrive at the same time from one trip to the next...and how do you estimate what time you'll arrive say if you're using DME? OK, then what if you arrive early in the day and your room isn't ready yet? Our usual pattern is to check-in and hopefully if the room is ready just drop our stuff and head out to the parks. DH and DS would be irritated with me if I said we had to hang around waiting for a grocery delivery because it has beer & liquor and cold foods in the order.

Just not quite sure how it would really work out for us if we're not there.:confused3

Thanks so much for the info. We still have a little while longer to investigate before we have to place an order, but it's always helpful to have as much info as we can get and to hopefully make a good decision.

We used Garden Grocer back in Apr-08 and it worked out great. I'm sure we'll use them again.

:thumbsup2
