We are coming down the home stretch for our 1st DVC Trip and I am about to tackle grocery delivery. I thought that I had seen that Garden Grocer sold beer and wine, however, when I go to their site now it's not listed.

Does anyone know if they sell beer and wine? If so, do I need to call or email them? If not, does anyone know the best way to purchase a couple of case of beer and a couple of bottles of wine?

Thanks in advance!

They do sell beer and wine. I believe you can put the info about the alcohol in the comment section. But you could also follow up with a call to make sure they don't have questions. :cool2:

We ordered beer from garden grocer. I put the request in the comments section. I followed up with a phone call. They had me fax a copy of my driver's license for proof of age. The beer was delivered with the groceries before we got to the resort and a separate charge for the beer was made. When we checked in, Bell Services brought everything up.

So if you are arriving in the evening you can have your groceries delivered before you get there and bell services holds onto them?

Never arrived in the eve-but pretty sure its no big deal. You let them know app arrival time and bell will store them until you are in your room and give them a call-or you can go down and get it. And we also put alcohol in comments-we dont even call and verify and have been very happy.

We arrived for our last trip around 7:00 pm. Garden grocer had delivered to our hotel and everything was perfect. Bell services kept everything cold....the beer, hot dogs and even ice cream! There was only 1 forgotten item on my list, I called Garden grocer and they delivered it the next day. I would highly recommend them. Any item not listed you can add in the comment section and they will do there best to get it for you.

How do you know what brands of beer or wine they have available for delivery?

Pretty sure most anything is available thats popular nationwide. We ordered 24 bottles of Mic Ultra and they had it, although we put "or equivalent" after each item, we ordered 4 bottles of wine and they had them as well-I cant remember them now (DD yelled them out as we ordered) but its always worked out great.

I have used garden grocer in the past and were happy with the service. Last time we had groceries delivered the next morning and everyone was up early and waiting for breakfast items. So I thought I would try ordereing for our arrival day, but wasn't sure if it was possible since we arrive in the evening. But if Bell Services will hold items, that would work perfectly.

How much did everyone pay for tipping? Both GG and bell services.

We have always spent enough for free delivery-I think $200? Then we put 15-20% on the order form since they have to pick out fruit etc. then we usually pick up at bell.

Great, thanks!! I think that is what will end up happening with us (maybe even closer to $300). Although $60 for a tip, wow! ($60 being 20% of the possible $300)

We have used Garden Grocer a couple of times now and always get water, Gatorade & beer delivered. Since alcohol is a special item you put it into the comments section. They have to make a special stop to get it so you can specify exactly what you want in the comments section. For example: 1 bottle of Eco Domani Pinot Grigio, 1 Fifth Captain Morgan, 1 12-pack Bud Light Lime, 1 case of 24 Miller Lite Cans etc. The alcohol portion is NOT included in their minimum grocery order of $40 so make sure you have at least $40 in grocery items first (not that hard to do with some breakfast items & other beverages). Then you fax a copy of your ID with your order # on it and they will call you closer to your del. date with a separate total for your alcohol purchase. We always select a delivery window that is right before we're scheduled to arrive and ask them to leave it with bell services. It is always waiting when we check in.:thumbsup2

As others have said, you need to add it in comments. Also, you can call them and they can provide you details.

Just remember: you are paying a delivery charge and tipping is at your discretion. ;) If you feel $60 is too steep, you are welcome to pay what you feel is fair.

How many days in advance of your arrival do you place your order? Does ordering items like beer or wine add to that time?

If you are going during a busy time - the sooner the better. If you go on their website, Garden Grocer posts what days they are no longer accepting orders.

I generally put our order in about 2-3 weeks before - just so I can be sure to get my pick of delivery windows. I don't believe ordering extra items like beer or wine would add anything to the time frame - they sort of treat it as a separate order though so I'd be sure to include it with the original order.

This is great info. I was browsing their website earlier in the week and was disappointed that I didn't see beer or wine. Now I know how to order it. This is why I love The Dis!
