We are leaving in two days, and during our stay we will be dining at the Garden Grill in Epcot. For the best view and character interaction, which level is best (upper or lower)?
I have never been to the Garden Grill, but will be visiting next time we go. Didn't realize there are different levels. What view are you talking about on the lower level?
We were there several years ago for the ice cream social and I am pretty sure there is only one level. The floor rotates slowly but the characters just come around to the tables. Mickey was too cute in his farmer overalls.
We have been to the Garden Grill many times and have always been seated on the bottom level. But the past 2 trips, I have been on the upper level because those times I had my youngest DD who needed a highchair. I am assuming that because of the highchair, we needed to be seat on the upper level. The lower level has booths while the upper level has tables and chairs.
Of course, the lower level seems more fun because you are up close to the scenery. But for adults and bigger kids, the upper level is fine too. Smaller kids though may have trouble seeing the scenes from the upper seating.
Unless you are needing a highchair, I would suggest asking about getting a lower level booth when you arrive for your ADR. HTH
The kitchen is on the upper level so CMs are always popping in and out as well as the characters. We have been seated in both levels in the past... it does not bother us where we sit as long as the food, service and character interaction are great We have never been disappointed with an ADR here and always really enjoy it
This information is great - we just had to switch one of our Dec vacation ADRs from Liberty Tree Tavern to here and I really had no idea what we were letting ourselves in for....as long as I get to see Chip and Dale I'm happy
We sat in the upper level. DS1 was in a high chair. I was so preoccupied with him, I didn't even notice the restaurant rotated. Someone mentioned it later and I was like,"Huh?."

We are dining at Garden Grill on our next trip, so this advice is great for us too!
On average, what amount of time have you spent in the restaurant? Our reservation is for 7:45 pm and we're thinking it's unlikely we'll make Illuminations. What do you think the odds are?
I'm taking notes. You should see my binder that I am planning to convert into notes to carry with me. I haven't done this much research and studying since I was in college. Never thought those skills would come in handy.
We were there at the end of April and with a highchair the only option is the upper level. However, the view is better from the lower level. Character interaction is the same on both levels. We spent about an hour and 15 minutes at the restaurant last time we ate there. We went for lunch and the restaurant was pretty full. We also had seconds since we were all pretty hungry that day!
