I know the meal is served family style and I've looked at the menu. Do you choose a single meat and such or do they bring out small portions of each item? And is it uncomfortable to eat there as a solo diner? I don't mind other restaurants, but I've never been to a family style restaurant before as a solo diner.

I am sure they would bring you smaller portions, as you can always ask for more of whatever you want. If it sounds good to you, book it! Because the kitchen is in the center, I don't think you'll feel like eyes are on you or anything. Go enjoy yourself!

You get a little of everything and ask for more of what you like.

Thanks! I think I will try it. I'm trying to expand my horizons this trip by trying different restaurants rather than just going with my usual ones and the menu choices looked good.

I took my 4 yo last year. Kids are served their own platter, so I was served an adults platter for 1. It was smaller portions of each item than when I had previously gone with DH & DS, but still some of each. The server had no problem bringing me more of anything that I wanted (I was fond of the beef, but not of the fish). If you are OK eating at other restaurants by yourself there is no reason to feel uncomfortable eating at GG by yourself.

Thanks so much. I'm definitely going to try the Garden Grill this trip. The restaurant itself sounded like fun so I'm looking forward to this now.

I think Garden grill would be great for solo dining! It is one of our favorite places for dinner in the parks! We love the seating in the lower, outer booths that face the scenes from Living with the Land ride.. They are more private and you can't see those dining in the booths next to you, so i think for that alone, it would be great! The food comes out on a long family style plate and I am sure they would just give smaller portions of it for 1 person. The food was awesome when we went in November last year.. The beef, stuffing, mashed potatos and turkey were our favorites and they were very generous with more helpings of each. Enjoy!

Totally agree. If I were going alone I'd probably book it. Great food. Chip and Dale might look at me funny though.

I'm planning to go alone when I'm there in November. Never been before, but other than the fish it looks yummy!

Fish isn't an allergy...but I don't like it and it does elicit a gag reflex. (I choked to gagging on a bone when I was little and just tasting fish makes me gag.) I don't know if I should call and have it notated on my reservation or just talk to my server though as it's not a true allergy.

As for characters, I have always had great experiences as a solo, so I anticipate more great times there. :)

Just tell your server when you're seated. No need to have it noted in your ADR if it's not an allergy, really - have fun!
