I'm trying to determine whether our junk is too trashy to be someone else's treasure!

We had a big dirt pile where the boys have played with big tonka and little tykes trucks for years. The boys have grown so we got rid of the dirt pile. Now what do I do with the trucks - and a turtle sandbox and little tykes table? I've cleaned them up, but they are very stained - they've sat outside for years. They would obviously have to remain outside toys, but are still in good shape otherwise.

My friend is having a garage sale tomorrow and said I could put some stuff out. Is this stuff too trashy for someone to want? I could try putting them out for free also, but don't want to waste my time hauling them over there if I'm going to end up dumping them anyway.

I hate to fill up the landfills with usable stuff! What do you think?

I would put them in the garage sale. Little Tikes stuff is very popular and even in used condition, you can still get a few $$ out of them. The turtle sandbox goes for about $30 I think so put $5 on it. I bet it will sell. I would put $5 on the picnic table too and perhaps stick an OBO on there just to remind them that you would take offers on it. Some garage salers aren't that outgoing with trying to make a deal. I'm willing to bet they will sell though!

I'm not sure about the Tonka stuff...I guess that depends on whether they are rusted etc. If you really just want to get rid of it, put $2 on the bigger ones and $1 to .50 on the smaller ones depending on condition. I bet they will get swooped up in no time.

I'd put them out priced to sell
if they don't sell for some reason send them right to the trash
it can't hurt to try
maybe get some extra cash to tuck away for future trip to disney

Put MAKE AN OFFER on them and advise a potential buyer that Krylon makes a paint (spray) for plastics called FUSION. It sells fro about $4 a can at Walmart. I used it on my stackable plastic chairs and they look great, although I still have one to paint and the others could use some touching up. ;) You never know, someone may give you a few bucks, expecially if it's no where close to retail. :D

I am president of the Men's Service Auxillary at our Temple and one of our fundraisers is a congregation wide garage sale. You would be amaze what people give us to sell. We had our sale last weekend and cleared over $4500.

You would not believe what people buy at garage sales! I put some stuff out at a street sale last week and made $150. It was a lot of baby stuff and toys. I marked everything $1 or $2 and it went. I even had an older style Diaper Genie that I marked $3 and someone bought that. I thought I would be taking that one to the curb!

A neighbor was having a garage sale a montha go and I saw a Little Tykes chalkboard/easel. I went to check the price and they had it for $1! One of the side arms needs fixed and the trays stay on most of the time, but the important thing is DD LOVES IT! And I could not pass it up for $1! :)

I would pay $5-15 for a turtle sandbox depending on the condition. Little Tykes toys should sell. :)
