Garage Sale Question

We are planning on having a garage sale next week. I have only done one in this neighborhood one time and didn't get much traffic since we live in a small neighborhood, in the back, on a dead end street. I only had it on Saturday the last time, but I am thinking I should add more days. Do more people come on Thursday & Friday? Should I do all 3 days or just 2? What works better where you live? I don't want to spend 3 days on it and only sell a handful of things, but I do want to get rid of as much as possible. We have some furniture, lots of toys and kids clothes.

If it is still possible make sure you advertise: In your local paper, community paper, put signs up at least 7 to 5 days before, and tell everyone you know, put signs up at the local grocery store if allowed. I must say we did Saturday and Sunday. Believe it or not we had mor sales on Sunday than Saturday. If you have children, have them sell water or coffee, or snacks to make money. (It keeps them occupied) My daughter made more than me one day selling snowcones. I put orange dots on certain price tags and the dots equal .50 to $1.00 off total purchase. Most people bought things just for the dot.

In the area that I live in I always do better on Thursday and Friday. Friday usually slows down big time by the afternoon. I have never had much luck with Saturday traffic. Make sure that your signs are readable and not just tiny little words that people can not read when driving by. I am planning on having a sell in a couple of weeks and I will make sure that all the major intersections have good signs. Good luck on your sale. I am hoping to make about $500 on this one. My last sale 2 years ago I made almost $900.
