I've never had my own garage sale, but I've sat with my sister at a couple of hers and just the THOUGHT of Kevin and John having a garage sale made me :rotfl2: without even having to hear about it. My sister made pretty good money, but the best part was the entire day of entertainment from garage sale shoppers. They will haggle over anything. My sister had a broken soup ladle on one of the tables, she meant to throw it away as it was totally useless, but one of the kids put it on one of the tables, a lady came over and asked how much it was, my sister just looked at her, then she said "It's free, you can have it." The lady said "Since I'm taking it off your hands, can I have this (paperback book priced at 10 cents) for a nickel?" I jumped in a said no, I'm sorry we really want 10 cents for the book, the woman said fine, put the broken ladle back on the table and left. :rotfl:

Kevin, I'll give you 20 cents for your 80's rayon pants. I just know you have some!

Garage sales can be a total waste of time. I've had some great ones over the years but the last one I had was a total bust. I don't think I'll bother having one again. I'd rather just donate the stuff than waste all my time putting stuff together for nothing!

I remember this one time these people drove up in a BMW, gathered together a bunch of stuff that I had priced at about $20, and asked if I would take $5 for all of it. Um, no. I did end up bargaining with them, but I really wanted to get rid of that stuff!

Oh I have had yard sales when I lived at my parents house. There are people who will come to your door BEFORE 7am wanting to know what you are selling. I would have paid money to see the look on that womens face who wanted to buy the pans. :rotfl2:

We had a yard sale one year and advertised in the paper that items would be free for the taking after 3 PM. We just wanted it all gone. We had a pretty good sale and at about 2:45 the vultures began circling. This one family came with a pick up truck backed into our drive way and literally started loading the back. No biggie Dh and I sat and watched rather amused at all the people jostling to get all the free junk they possibly could. Well at one point I got up out of my chair to pick something up I dropped and these people with the truck snatched the chair out from under me! :scared1: I told them the chair was not for the taking. They were rather upset. Seriously I was sitting in it two seconds before!:rotfl:

Doing stuff like that is probably how they ended up being able to get the BMW.
