We just returned from our first visit to DLP Resort last week and found the park to be breathtakingly beautiful, with more detail and color than either park here in the states.
We were rather upset, however, that when both parades stopped for the special "performances", we found ourselves looking at blank pavement as far as we could see on either side--a good block or more--for the full time of the performance. In the Dream parade in CA, the parade is spaced so that there are performers between every float, so even if you can't see the float itself, everyone has something to watch. And generally you can see at least part of one or more of the floats, even if they aren't stopped directly in front of you.
Also, we watched Fantillusion at the very top of Main Street, where it joins Central Plaza, and found that we were hearing the music mostly from the floats which had already passed us and were moving down Main Street, mixed with just a bit of the soundtrack for float approaching us. I have never had a problem with sound overlap of this nature at either DL-CA or WDW, and have even been told on backstage tours that there are special sensors in the street to control the flow of the parade and music to avoid this problem.
Are these gaps typical, or did we hit a bad day? I must say that I was very disappointed in the caliber of the entertainment for this reason, as I have come to expect much better from Disney.
