Just when you think it is safe to plan a trip to WDW, here is ANOTHER tropical system.

We are trying to escape the hell that was Katrina and now this!!! :earseek:

It must be us!!!

Pixie Dust, Pixie Dust, Pixie Dust!!!
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Good luck. It looks like it should stay at TS and not turn into a hurricane, but you never know.

Latest report is lots of wind and rain in the Orlando area on Sunday and Monday. I doubt the parks will close, but it will be wet!

Jason- Thanks for the Good Luck.

orlandomike- we are due to arrive Tuesday around 3pm, so hopefully we miss it.

That's amazing! :earseek: I would have thought the hurricane threat would be over by now

Actually, hurricane season runs until Nov 30. This may be the last hurrah. Hope it stays to the south.

Let's hope it stays south of the US not just south of Orlando.. I am in south west FL... we just went thru Wilma... I was lucky & had minor damage, but we didn't have electric for 3 days. I don't want to see anymore, not even a TS :umbrella:

We leave tommorow and arrive Sunday. Just in time for rain. :confused3

Oh well just like south Louisiana only with giant mice :rotfl:

Well atleast the new update does show the TS going South of Florida and going over just the tip. Hopefully it will continue this movement and completely miss Florida.

heres the latest from www.accuweather.com ..looks like southern florida will get the worst of it..WDW should be alright. Also Gamma looks like its eventually going to form a huge east coast storm next week.

TROPICAL STORM GAMMA MAY HIT SOUTHERN FLORIDA
A MAJOR EAST COAST STORM BREWING

by AccuWeather.com Sr. Meteorologist Henry Margusity

STATE COLLEGE, PA (AccuWeather.com) -- AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center meteorologists are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Gamma, which became the 24th named storm of the record-breaking Atlantic hurricane season..

Gamma is producing considerable cloudiness and shower and thunderstorm activity. 6-10" of rain is expected to fall on Belize, western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, with 4-8" and locally higher amounts expected in northwest Honduras.

Gamma is forecast to reach the coast of Belize late tonight or early on Saturday. The storm will weaken if it makes landfall, but if it remains over water it will maintain tropical storm strength as it parallels the coast of the Yucatan peninsula through the weekend.

Tropical storm Gamma will get picked up by the trough moving into Texas and is forecasted to move across southern Florida as a tropical storm Monday. People in southern Florida should prepare for a tropical storm force winds and heavy rains, but it should not be as bad as Wilma. There is the outside chance that Gamma becomes a hurricane the next 48 hours, but shear should weaken Gamma before reaching Florida.

The implications of Gamma for the East coast of United States are major. While, we do not expect Gamma will have tropical characteristics after leaving southern Florida, the moisture and energy will be entrained into a major storm. That storm may bring heavy rains and gales to the mid-Atlantic and New England coast and heavy snows to the Appalachians from the Carolinas to new England.Over a foot of snow is possible above 2000 feet. Even the major cities from Washigton to Boston could have snow at the tail end of the storm.

Yep as I just did the last weather check. OH BOY! and my sister is terrified of storms. Last place I want to be is locked in a hotel room with her, my ds and niece. SO GAMMA GO SOUTH! WAY SOUTH!

We fly in tomorrow! :cool1:

Polyaddict, its not you. We went to WDW in Aug and had to reschedule because of Katrina and then again in Oct. we had to reschedule because of Wilma and ended up being "refugees" in WDW in late Oct. from Wilma.

Lucincia, lets hope it misses Orlando and stays south...JUST WHAT WE NEED DOWN HERE in South FL!! YES, keep hoping it goes south so we can get bammed again after what we just went through with Wilma less than a month ago-hey 2 weeks without electricity was fun and no gas, hey we have electric powered cars and hey what's a house without a roof anyway??? :earseek:

Don't worry if it goes to south FL you will definitely feel it in WDW one way or another. If not the weather, the South Floridians will once again head up to WDW!! So, be prepared for record breaking crowds especially since it's Thanksgiving week! So you better hope it stays WAY south, like away from FL all together....

I don't think people stop to think when they say ... stay south. You are 100% correct though... if it stays south like Wilma. All us south Floridians will be up there. Then I can hear another mother telling her son not to worry about the crowds that "the next time we come here it won't be so crowded with all the hurricane evacuee's" yep...that is what we heard an adult saying to her child on Saturday Oct 29th in the MK :confused3 Really made us feel welcomed at Disney. People need to stop & think before they speak. Let's hope that it doesn't hit the US at all & that it just goes out to sea. We Floridians are growing weary of packing up, taking shelter & worring about our homes being spared, while some folks are just worried it doesn't rain their entire Disney trip :umbrella:

Sorry! I did not mean for it to go South to hit any Land! Go so so south and disapate is what I want. I give you all credit who have been through the Hurricanes I can not not even imagine what it must be like.

And if you have to come to Disney! I would be happy to see you, since I know more lives have been lost.

Here is Wisconsin we even had people from Katrina up here. I was sad to see them being so far from home, but then thought they may have a better chance here. Our cold and snow does not destroy homes.

Be safe to everyone in Gamma's path!

I am sure my mom will be freaking out when she sees it is coming.

WAY WAY SOUTH!!!! My mother is having a fit! Please stay WAY WAY SOUTH! Like not even touch Florida would be wonderful!

Man, what a season this has been! I was in WDW for Wilma and I'm going back on Dec. 9th. Hurricane season is supposed to be over by then... :confused3
Sending pixie dust for you Thanksgiving travelers! :wizard:

From down here in Boca I think you'll be fine. We're seeing predictions for sunshine and perfect temps come Tuesday. Really, this storm should be far enough South of Orlando to not make much an impact.

Down here in Blue Tarp City we're not too pleased, but I made some more "permanent" repairs to my roof with roofing cement and other sealers the day after Wilma hit. I should be able to hold out for months, just as long as we don't take another direct strike. It may be another two months before our roofer starts the way things are. There are too many people down here who's need are greater than mine, and I completely understand.

OTOH, guess I'll be seeing a lot of my neighbor's roofs again this Thanksgiving weekend. I sure hope those tarps hold.

I wouldn't worry. Right now it will be way past by Thanksgiving and the effects on Orlando will be minimal. Just increased chances of rain for a couple of days and a little higher than normal winds. Not too bad.

Who came up with the idea of "When we run out of regular names we will start with the greek alphabet"? It should be "When we run out of regular names we will start with Disney villans"!

So, since Gamma=C, from this point forward, this storm will be known as Cruella!
