Games for Small Space

Are there any fun, challenging games for 2-3 adults to play in a small space? I like Dominion and Carcassone, but we only have a small area to play in. I'm guessing card games will more likely fit the bill, though maybe a small board game would work. We'll only have the space of half a card table to play on, if that.
