I've bought my soon to be 6 y.o. daughter a Gameboy Advance the other day. Now I'm looking for some easy to play games for her. She will be "sharing" (is this possible?!) it with her 4 1/2 y.o. brother (who is very good at computer games - probably better than her!). I see there are several Disney games for the Gameboy and Gameboy color (and they're supposed to fit the new Advance if I understand correctly).

For all of you that have a Gameboy, do you have any advice for me on games (Disney or otherwise)? I appreciate any opinions. THANKS!

Tina

i have a 5yr old boy. he loves the winnie the pooh game, frogger, and mario brothers. they are all pretty much for either a boy or a girl so they could both play the games and none are too hard. i bought frogger because my son loves the computer version that i have. hope this helps!

Tina, let me know what your soon to be 6 year old thinks of the gameboy advance. My dd turns 6 in October and I'd like to get it for her birthday. I'd appreciate the feedback.

Thanks.

My 9 yr old son also got a Gameboy Advance. The old Gameboy games do work on it. Target recently had several Gameboy Color games on clearance. I picked up a Beauty and the Beast game (Gameboy Color) for $9.99. Although he was a little old for it, my 5 yr old daughter loves it. They both really like any of the Disney, Rugrats, and Mario games.
I really suggest checking out clearance sections for great deals.

Does she like Pokemon? My 7 yr old daughter has been playing that since she was 5. Its a bit tricky for them at that age because there is some reading involved - but they manage to get by without it. Our 4-1/2 yr old boy is definitley the video game expert in our family - but our 7 yr old girl is still queen of the the gameboy pokemon game. Mine both got the GB advances last week to replace their gameboy pockets, with gold and silver pokemon games. She's still better. Boy does well with the battles, but he isn't as good at getting where he needs to go - involves some strategy - and he has to ask his sister for help. If you want them to share, you'd do well to have at least one game that the 7 year is better at.

Thanks everyone - I'm kinda excited about it now. I'm really hoping to pick up some games on clearance - that would be super!!!! Laurie - I'll definitely let you know what they think - it should be interesting.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Tina

Hi tina,
You can rent the games at most video stores. This way the kids can try them out and see if they like them or not. It beats spending $40 bucks on a game that ends up sitting in a drawer.

There is a very cute game call Race Through The Magic Kingdom. It is an old one I think, we have had it for awhile. My son thinks it is fun.:)

My 6 yr old DS has Game Boy Color. He has Pokemon Silver and Disney's Magical Racing Tour. We've rented some games too, and he likes Wario Land 3 and Asteroids. He doesn't play it much, and even though he's a Pokemon fan and can read now he doesn't really care for that game. He loves Pokemon games on N64 though. The Easter Bunny brought Magical Racing Tour and he does like that. It was nice because we were going to WDW and this game is a racing game through alot of the major attractions at all 4 parks. He prefers his N64 over GBC, but it's nice to have.

We got Gameboy color for our 2000 trip. It's mainly for our now-9 year old DD but DD#2 (age 6) can handle some of it. We don't play a lot of video games so it's mostly new to them. We bought Totally Angelica and Pacman with it, then for Easter we bought 102 Dalmations, and for this year's trip we got Shrek. DD#1 LOVES the Shrek game.

Hi all,

My young DS (aged 5 and a bit) has been bugging me to buy him the Spiderman game for when we travel to Florida this year (I promised him a game of some sort).
Although he's pretty good at all the games he's got I've a feeling Spiderman may be a bit much for him (It says 11+ on the box!). Does anyone have the game? Can anyone recommend it (Or not) for a 5 yo?

PS - How much is a gameboy Advance over there in the US? I may pick one up as a treat for him when I'm over there in august. (To stop him and his sister fighting over the only one we've got!!)

XAVIER -- I bought my son's Gameboy Advance at Target for $89 but I think it was on sale. I am pretty sure the regular price was $99. Most of the store ads I have seen have been around that price.

I can't help with the spiderman game, I am not familiar with it.

his BD my only problem with it is the light glares on the screen but that does not seem to bother him only me when I get a turn. LOL

Much better than GameBoy Color.

Xavier you will find that most gameboy items are the same price in dollars as in pounds in other words if it is 99lbs sterling it will be $99 here.making it cheaper here than in UK.

My sons are 10 and 8, and they have the Tarzan game, which they don't play. They play the Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Trading Card...Pokemon Pinball seems easy, and they really enjoy Zelda (there's no "levels")
good luck!

I've tried buying other games for the gameboys--mostly "girl" games for my dd--but they play the Pokemon games almost exclusively. DD has been playing them since she was 3 with no problem. She also likes Pokemon Pinball(so do I). Pokemon Crystal is next up on the horizon, just in time for ds's birthday.

Pawn shops and "replay" types of stores are great places to find inexpensive games.

We have SpiderMan for both N64 and Gameboy and my 5 year old does just fine playing it. Its easier for his brothers, but he holds his own.
Disney-wise, we have The Emperor's New Groove for Gameboy and my boys all like that. We also have Tarzan, and the Buzz Lightyear game.
And, of course, the Pokemon games are still tops for them, along w/ Zelda.

Thanks Dizneenut, you've eased my mind about the spiderman game. i'll buy it for my 5 yo to play with on the plane! Should keep him quiet for a while! :D

Well I broke down and bought the gameboy advance for dd. Her 6th b'day is in October, so I figure it will give me time to buy a couple games! Thanks for posting all the different ideas about the games. Tina..PM me sometime and let me know how your dd likes hers.
