How crazy am I?? I'm thinking of buying dd, 6, one of these. I'm even thinking of giving it to her before our WDW trip in October. I've found some games she'd like... like Disney princesses, and Nemo.

One question... I know that you can hold the regular gameboy advance in your hands to play it, but what about the SP? It looks more like a laptop, do you need a surface to rest it on to play?? Of course, the rechargability looks good to me...

U can hold it in your hands...its really cool...I want to get one too.....

Both of my DSs have the SP. My 14 y/o got it first & his 7 y/o little brother really liked it so he got his own. It saves me quite a bit of money on batteries!:D

I got one (and I'm 26 :o) for a looooong car ride to the Outerbanks. I LOVE it... and so does my hubby!!! I, too, thought it would be awkward to hold but it is just as comfortable, if not more, than the regular gameboy. Don't hesitate to get it!!!

I bought one for my DS who will be 6 in November, it's for his birthday. I have bought "Lego Racers" and "Finding Nemo" for him to play - I don't care for the shoot'em up/fight/demolish type games - but I do think he'll have alot of fun with it, especially on a long drive or a long line/wait.

Your dd will too....TRU has alot of games for $10 that are older, but the kids don't know the difference. You can use the all the games in the SP.

Both of my boys have the SPs and prefer them to traditional video game hardware that need a TV to play. There are a ton of games out there for little ones, and I like that we can use all their old original Gameboy games in the SP.

I think this is what we're getting our DS for Christmas. I'm sure it's at the top of his list!

DS (7) got one for his birthday in June and he loves it. He previously had GBColor and we find it to be far superior. DH and I sometimes play (we 36/37) and we all find it comfortable to hold. I think your DD would love it and it would be great for the trip.

GBA SP is terrific. Unlike the old Game Boys (and I have been through ALL of them from the original GB, to GB Pocket, GB Color and Game Boy Advance with my boys), you're not constantly changing batteries. That alone is worth the extra price. It also has a built in light (this does affect battery life however and should be used only when necessary), so they don't need those little "worm" lights that always seemed to get broken easily. The SP is smaller and easier to hold than the first GBA. And best of all for mom, I can actually see the images on the new screen. Half of the time, my son would say to me "Mom, look at this" and I'd be squinting my eyes and not seeing whatever it was he wanted to show me. This screen is very clear.

My DH is a programmer at Nintendo, so my kids have grown up with the stuff. They have been playing since 2-3.

Your DD will love it! It is so nice for times when you need them to be quiet and wait. My son, 5 almost 6's favorite game is spongebob.
