Game Room on Castaway Cay

Just wanted to mention this NICE addition to Castaway...at least it's new to us since we last were there 2 yrs ago. It is located near the volleyball nets on the Teen Beach. Sheltered area w/ all kinds of FREE games like basktetball throw, ping pong, giant checkers and Chess, shuffleboard and a sandbox area w/ games for younger ones. Nice cool sheltered area, w/ ice water cooler and music. My teens liked this area and surprisingly not many were there. I think most people stop at the Family Beach and don't know it's there. It's worth it to walk over that way to see it or just hang out there....very fun if you/your kids like these type of games.

BTW, we always go to the Teen Beach, hardly anyone there, and plenty of chairs....also conveniently located near a restroom.

Shhhh! Don't tell anyone else! My DH and I have been looking forward to that game room soooo much and the fewer people that know, the better!

I think it will remain quiet for a while... Didn't you say it came out around January Barb? If no one has discovered it by now...My theory is that most people stop at the Family Beach and don't go any further. We go over that way because we like the Teen Beach and we have teens. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have the need to go that far either. The teen beach even has hammocks that are available!!

Isn't the Teen Beach JUST for 'teens'? I'm sure THEY think so. As the Adult Beach is JUST for 'adults'.

Come on, everyone, you remember being a teen & wanting that special place where 'annoying' little kids can't get to you & those 'old fogeys' can't boss you around.

So far, it has remained relatively undiscovered, but hubby has seen them bring the kids from the club activities over there a few times.
I think the teen beach is supposed to be just for the teenagers, although last time I saw a family with toddlers over there. As an alternative, you can set up camp near the restrooms at the tail end of the family beach, which is very close to Castaway Jo's and doesn't really fill in until the early afternoon. When we don't go to the adult beach, that's where we usually set up shop.

There are hardly any teens on the teen beach to care! Most of what we have seen our last 3 times are a few adults w/ teens. My teen boys don't care that we're there...I asked them first. The few teens I see are at the other end and doing their own thing. If they cared or I felt I was intruding on a TEEN scene, I wouldn't stay there. The beach is practically deserted! Such a shame to waste that part of the beach.

I agree! There is plenty of beach there for families to stick to their side, adults on their own and leave the teenagers alone. You can bet you would hear adults complaining if teenagers said "well the adult beach is pretty empty lets all go over there"!

Aprilgail, I agree 100 percent!
I look at it this way...even though the adult beach and adult pool are often nearly deserted, I see it as part of what I am paying for. The people with children are paying to have nearly constant availability of child care, and since I have no kids, I am paying to have quiet areas available to me for relaxation. I think that's one of the main advantages of Disney over RCCL.
As for the teen beach, I think it should be reserved just for them whether it is crowded or not, same as the adult beach. I'm sure the parents of little ones wouldn't like it if groups of teens crashed the kids clubs, so show the same respect to their areas.

One more point - & I'm not trying to be argumentative - maybe the reasons teens aren't visiting "their side" of the island is because they see families, etc. there & don't care to remain. Just as adults (those who wouldn't put up a stink) would wander away from their beach/club, etc. if it were 'invaded' by kids.

Well if the teen beach is JUST for teens, then why did they put that game room there and why do they have the organized volleyball game there? My DH plays volleyball there and it is located on the teen beach.

I am all for giving my teens privacy and space. Believe me, I am NOT trying to step on any toes by going to this beach. We are not one to trespass and break rules. I have teens and they and their friends didn't even care to go to the beach. Most of them went back to the ship early or didn't even get off the ship til late since they sleep in. I am not kidding when I say there were maybe 10-12 people at this beach the whole day. If they really want to make it exclusive, maybe they should put a sign up...or is there one? I don't think I saw one...so maybe others don't know it's just for teens. Or maybe they should make it like a dance party and play music, etc so more kids would go...If you took a poll w/ the teens I think you would fine either most don;t care or don't even know it's strictly for teens. Maybe they call it that also because they do the Wild Side there but we hardly say anyone there for that either.
