Next year my DD will be off to college so I thought I would "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" and buy her some games for her Christmas and birthday gifts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Apples to Apples is a favorite among my college kids and their friends. Also, at least in Texas anyway, the college kids seem to play ALOT of dominoes. I'll keep thinking...

:lmao:Beer Pong, Twister, strip poker.......

Apples to Apples is fun, and cards. Check the game section at Barnes and Noble. They have more grown up games.

I agree with the PPs that Apples to Apples is a great idea. I also remember having a lot of fun with one of those murder mystery kits when I was in university.

Of course, the games that first came to mind didn't require anything more than (maybe) a set of dice, some quarters, and an awful lot of beer ;)

I'm gonna go with Beer Pong too. I saw a set in Sports Authority.

Catch Phrase is also really fun and doesn't take too long to play. We also had Cranium and Trivial Pursuit in our college townhouse.

I knew someone was going to say beer pong...lol

Apples to Apples is fun. You might consider a deck (or two) of cards and a copy of Hoyles Book of Games.

They gave my niece the Wii when she went. I guess quite a few of them on her floor all compete against each other on Mario Kart.

Good idea. Lots of games can be played off a regular deck. Spoons, blink assassin, slap jack ;)

A deck of cards, an xbox/PS/Wii or Beer Pong. They go a long way to cure boredom or taking breaks from those long study sessions

LOL yeah beer pong, beer poker, pretty much anything with beer in the title! :lmao:

But seriously, Apples to Apples is a great one! In college we also loved Taboo, and Scattegories. All the get-together games are fun with a big crowd......and if they're easy to turn into drinking games, all the better! Hahaha!:rotfl2:

Taboo, Risk, Diplomacy. When I was in college we played a lot of Bridge, so definitely a deck of cards.

On the other hand, DD is currently in college and has absolutely no time for games.

A few decks of cards. We used to play Spades for HOURS.
We also loved Trivial Pursuit, Scattergories, and Cranium.

In my experience, college games involve drinking. It doesn't necessarily have to be beer pong; but it might be a card game where you take a shot every time a certain card or cards are drawn, or poker with an alcohol aspect, or strip poker (!), or pretty much any regular game that somehow incorporates alcohol. A deck of cards, ping-pong balls, and a large supply of red plastic cups is a good place to start. ;)

A college student would consider that the ideal gift!
You could throw some shot glasses in there too.

We loved playing Catch Phrase and Cranium in college!! It was a blast.

A lot of my friends loved Apples to Apples (not my favorite, but still, fun!).

You can make ANY game into one that involves alcohol--Candyland is a GREAT game for college kids with alcohol :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

ImagineIf is also a BLAST, with or without alcohol.
