My dad works for a car rental company and often, customers leave stuff in the rental cars. If they aren't claimed after a long period of time, the workers can keep the stuff. He brought over a Game Boy Advance, with one game in it. He said it's been there over a year. What do I need to add to this- some type of charger- anything else for it to be a complete system for my boys? They have been dying for a handheld game and will be thrilled, I just want to make sure they have everything they need to use it.

I suggest a car charger, house charger, and a carrying case. You can get these at most electronic stores or game stores.
If there is a Game Stop or EB Games near you then you can buy used games there for much cheaper than new games.

Thanks for the tips- I wouldn't have thought of a car charger. We do have an EB games store so I'll check that out too.

EB Games will have everything you need. I bought the travel pack there. It came with the carrying case and car charger.

I would also suggest you ask if they have a "worm light". The lighting on the Gameboy Advances was pretty bad and the worm light was bright and never really burned out nor did it need it's own power source. We had a cord for our old GB Advance, so it could be run off electricity rather than strictly off AA batteries, so I think those are nifty, too.

We do have the electric cord so we can run off of electricity instead of batteries. That is what I meant for house charger. Sorry that I didn't make that clear. It doesn't really charge; it just relieves the battery.
I want to find out more about this worm light that you are talking about. I guess we don't have that. Please explain more about what it does. Where do you put it? It isn't that little key chain looking like that comes with the travel pack.....is it??? I haven't figured out what that thing is or why they have it. I guess I am technically/game challenged. We just went to EB Games and got the salesperson to tell us everything we need. Then we bought it. (That was over the summer for DDs birthdays.) I don't know about the worm light, though. Please tell me more about it. It may make a good Christmas gift!!!!

I wouldn't worry about the worm light. My kids have GBA SP -the SP version of the Game boy advance so it doesn't bother them.

The worm lights will be hard to find if it isn't a SP model --basically one with a fold up screen.
