We are booked on the December 15th Wonder cruise out of Galveston, returning on December 22nd. We are schedule to fly out of Hobby at 12:35pm on the 22nd. I am just now reading about how bad the fog can be there in the winter, and I'm worried that (since it's Christmas weekend), we may struggle to rebook our flight home, if we run into fog issues. I'm considering changing our flight to the morning of the 23rd... Am I stressing for little reason, or would it be prudent to change our return flight? Would love your thoughts, if you're familiar with the Galveston port!!

If you can afford to add a day to your vacation, i would do so. We were one of the early January cruisers affected greatly by fog in Galveston. Make sure you have trip insurance whatever you decide. Good luck!

There's really no good answer, because it all depends on the weather! :goodvibes We've done 10 DCL cruises out of Galveston and have been fog delayed on two cruises for a total of three times (one cruise was both on embarkation and disembarkation day). The fog delays this past winter were the worst they have ever been, but there have been years when there are none.

Isn't fog worse in the morning? ...or is that just my experience of fog? Maybe it's different along a coastline. I'm landlocked.

Yes. So, our cruise could not dock as scheduled. And we missed our late afternoon flights. And the next cruisers were delayed embarking for hours.

Thanks for the feedback... As we're booked with Southwest, we don't have any change fees, so we decided to just change our flight to the next day... Since I've done that, I'm sure it will guarantee that we don't have any fog!!

Ive been lucky and never fogged in in Galveston/Hobby. Have been fogged in in SFO though for over 6 hours. I used to fly out of Oakland just to lessen the likelihood of fog in the AM.
