What re the odds that the Magic will stay in Galveston through the end of December 2022, or into January 23? 4 total cruises seems short, but at this point anything is possible/ We are trying to figure out if we can force the last one listed to work, or hold out hope for at least one more!

It's very hard to even try and guess because the Wonder doesn't have anything posted for that time frame yet. They could split the typical Galveston season between the two ships. DCL signed a renewal agreement with the Port of Galveston in Jan 2019 that, assuming they will be held to it in this new COVID cruising world, means that they are tied to 24 operations from 11/1/22 to 10/31/23. I would say that guarantees there will be more sailings, but they may not all be for the Magic.

I would say with a great deal of certainty either the Magic or Wonder will be sailing out of Galveston for the winter. Other than New Orleans, there really is no place else to send them since 3 ships will already be in Florida. The Galveston holiday market is really strong so I can't imagine they won't have a ship here. It's interesting because they announced cruises to "the Caribbean and Bahamas from Texas" in their press release but none of the cruises currently listed go to the Bahamas. Not sure if that means they will be adding Bahamas sailings with the next group. I would have to think so because it adds variety. People in Texas get tired of going to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. They can do that on any cruise line. But visiting Castaway Cay and not having to fly to Florida makes those cruises more special.

Not to change the topic, but I am actually more curious about what they do with the Jan-March cruises. Those are typically MDAS out of Miami. I wonder if they will move them to the Dream or keep them on the Magic from a new port. I live in Houston so nothing would make me happier than to see one of the Classic ships offering MDAS out of Galveston or New Orleans. But it is way too soon to tell what their plan is at this point.

Hi what does MDAS stand for? Thanks.

My cruise in December goes to Castaway? So that would be the Bahamas or are you saying the new cruises not yet released don't seem to go there?

Yes... the new itineraries for next December. They only released a few itineraries and none visit Castaway yet. But someone made a good point on another thread. Usually the Castaway Cay sailing includes Key West. So they may be waiting to shore that up before making any announcements.

Castaway Cay and Nassau are both in the Bahamas. The 4 & 5 night cruises from Galveston typically go to Mexico/the Caribbean & do not go to the Bahamas. But 6 & 7 night cruises from Galveston usually do go to Castaway Cay, which is in the Bahamas.
